Another profitable week in the A-League for Before You Bet as we hit on 2/2 winners coming at odds of $1.72 and $3.30. Our third tip was for the Brisbane vs Western United game, which was unfortunately postponed to a later date.
We are back in Round 15 of the A-League season for a full preview and betting tips for three of our favourite matchups of the week.
A-League Round 15 Betting Tips
Western United vs Melbourne City
Thursday 1st April, 5.35pm (AEDT)
An interesting Melbourne derby to kick off the round on Thursday night between Western United and Melbourne City, the latter of whom will be looking to extend a massive six game win streak and jump to the top of the A-League table. Melbourne City hasn’t lost a game since their 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Newcastle Jets all the way back on the 7th of February, and they currently sit just two points behind the Mariners at the top of the table with two games in hand on the ladder leaders.
Western United was right in the mix earlier in the season but they have won just one of their last four games and have slid all the way to 10th on the A-League ladder. They do have the advantage of having played just 11 games in this highly interrupted season to date, so they have time to pull the deficit back and challenge for finals. They will also be coming off an extended break after their clash in Brisbane against the Roar on the weekend was postponed.
Melbourne City start as incredibly strong favourites for this clash, which was originally scheduled to take place down in Geelong but was moved to AAMI Park in Melbourne. This gives the advantage to Melbourne City, who I already fancied and like even more now. They should continue their win streak here.
Melbourne City Win to Nil
$3.50
Macarthur vs Perth Glory
Friday 2nd April, 6.05pm (AEDT)
Good Friday football in the A-League will be played between Macarthur and Perth Glory this week with both teams in the hunt for a finals berth in 2021. Marcarthur currently sit in fourth place on the A-League table but have played the most games of any team in the league at 14. They have won their last two on the trot, both solid wins over the Wellington Phoenix and Western United.
Perth looked like one of the top teams in the league earlier in the season, reeling off three straight wins to put them in the top four. Since that streak, however, they have gone on to accumulate just five points over their next six games, winning just one and drawing two. Their one win came on the weekend against the Newcastle Jets at home, but they’ll be back on the road this week at Campbelltown Stadium in Sydney.
Macarthur start as favourites for this game at home but I’m leaning the other way and giving Perth Glory one more chance in 2021. They currently sit in 7th place and need to make something happen ASAP is they want to push for a finals berth. The win over Newcastle at home last week might have been the spark they needed. Backing them at good value this week.
Melbourne Victory vs Sydney FC
Sunday 4th April, 7.05pm (AEDT)
What a disappointing season it has been for the Melbourne Victory so far this year. They sit dead last on the A-League table with just a 2-2-9 record through 13 games and they have accumulated just one point in their last five games. In that period, they lost four straight games to Western United, Melbourne City, Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix with a combined goal aggregate of 5-17. They salvaged a single point against ladder leaders Central Coast in a 1-1 draw away from home on the weekend, which was actually a pretty impressive performance given their form this season.
Sydney looked to be beginning it’s surge up the ladder a few weeks ago with two straight wins over Western United and Newcastle, however, a draw with Perth and a loss to Adelaide in their last two games has halted their run. They currently sit in 6th place with a 5-4-4 record and have a host of teams hot on their tail.
This would be the ultimate statement from the Victory to come out and win this one at home in front of what is sure to be a fired up Easter Sunday crowd. They showed glimpses of their former selves in the 1-1 draw to Central Coast on the weekend while Sydney didn’t look great in Adelaide and will be away from home once again. Back Melbourne at the double chance here.
