A-League Week 12 Betting Tips
Melbourne City FC vs Macarthur
Friday 7.05pm (AEDT)
Melbourne City will be flying high after an absolutely dominant win over their oldest rivals last week. They towelled up Melbourne Victory to the tune of 6-0 on Saturday night and the win helped them jump into the top five on the A-League table. This week, they square off against the 2nd placed side in Macarthur and could potentially leap from their opponents on the table with a win.
Macarthur secured a fantastic win over Sydney FC in Week 10 but couldn’t back it up in their last game, going down to the top of the table Mariners 2-0 on Monday night. They now sit seven points behind the ladder leaders in 2nd place and just two points clear of a pack of five trailing teams.
This will be the first ever meeting between these two sides after Macarthur entered the A-League competition this season. We have absolutely no history to draw upon, so we are looking to form for a guide here. City are coming off a dominant win and they should carry over the momentum at home on Friday night.
Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United
Saturday 7.10pm (AEDT)
You’d be hard pressed to find a season since the inception of the A-League where the Melbourne Victory has performed this poorly. They have won just 2 of their 10 games and sit dead last on the A-League table, four points behind their nearest rivals. They were absolutely demolished by Melbourne City last week, failing to record a shot on target as their opponents maintained 53% possession and fired 22 shots.
Adelaide United have been one of the in form teams in the competition of late, winning their last three games and jumping to fourth on the table. They have a 5-1-4 record and were 2-1 winners over the Newcastle Jets at home on the weekend. They will be on the road this week and unbelievably start as underdogs against this struggling Victory side.
Can’t get enough of Adelaide here. They have been in terrific form of late, a complete contrast to the Victory. Adelaide United have won five of their last six games against Melbourne Victory, back them to add another win to that record on Saturday night.
Central Coast Mariners vs Perth Glory
Sunday 4.05pm (AEDT)
The Mariners have been near unstoppable so far this season, winning 8 of 11 games and sitting seven points clear atop the A-League table. It’s a vast contrast to last season, where they finished on the very bottom of the table, five points behind the nearest team. They are coming off a solid 2-0 win over Macarthur last week where their counter attacking play was in full flight as they maintained just 34% possession in the win.
Perth were looking like a true title contender after winning three straight games over Melbourne City, Adelaide and Brisbane but they have since lost their last two games to Central Coast and Wellington. They will face the Mariners again on Sunday night, this time on the road, away from the sanctuary that is nib Stadium.
These two teams are the two highest scoring in the competition this season. The Mariners have put 20 goals into the back of the net through 11 games while the Glory have scored 19 in just 8. The last eight games between these two sides have produced an average of 3.4 goals. Back this to be another high scoring affair.
