Racing in Queensland this Saturday heads to the Sunshine Coast where we have a solid nine race card. The feature of the day sees the running of the Sunshine Coast Cup in Race 8. There’s a few handy horses going around today and plenty of good betting opportunities throughout.
Billy Bestford is back once again to bring you his best bets and racing tips for all the key races.
Sunshine Coast Racing Tips: Saturday January 28th
Race 3
Keeping it simple and backing (2) Sailor who looks to have a bit more upside than most of these. He beat a good horse in Ghostwriter last start and looos to get every favour here today. In a race which lacks speed I think he can lane in a positive enough position and be too good for this lot.
(8) Finsceal started favourite 2nd up and won with a bit in hand. This is a step up but he gets in nice and light and is another horse with untapped potential.
Might be worth forgiving (3) Lucky Exchange who won well first up before a plain run last time out. Is a winner at this trip and will enjoy getting out to the mile now.
(6) Rose Of Duporth looks the value.
(2) Sailor
$2.60 (2 units)
Race 6
(6) Mo’s Crown can run a good race fresh and happy to have something on him to knock off the short favourite. His recent trial looked sharp and will carry just 52.5kg after the claim.
(4) The Bopper is the obvious horse to beat here and has been flying up here in QLD. You’d think they will be flying up front and he will be out the back ready to let rip. Bolted in at this track two starts ago.
(10) Rubiquitous was very good first up in the Bribie before nothing went right 2nd up with a big weight. Drops 7kg off that run now and should be set to peak 3rd up.
(5) Boom Spender goes very well fresh and should be handy enough in running. Can run a cheeky race at a price.
(6) Mo's Crown
$6.00 (1 unit)
Race 8
(2) Chaillot is probably the most interesting runner on the card today. Ex Price Kent horse who showed good ability down south, tackling some top line races. Things didn’t go to plan last prep and now we see her up here. Four wins from six first up runs is a likeable stat and hoping a change of scenery might bring the best out of her. If so, she will be winning this.
(5) Roman Aureus is as honest as they come and returned to racing with a good first up win. He’s proven 2nd up and probably just needs to run a strong 1400m to be in with a hope.
(1 Tumbler Ridge is the other class horse in this field and probably lands in a more forward position than Chaillot. He will be right in the finish but no wins over this trip.
(15) Renouf has been a winner 4th up in the past and he has been sneaky flying this prep without much luck. Looks a touch overs.
Value: (15) Renouf - $34 (0.25 units)
(2) Chaillot
$3.65 (2 units)
