Hong Kong racing continues to deliver with the Hong Kong Gold Cup headlining the meeting at Sha Tin today. Romantic Warrior returns and James Mcdonald is over from Australia to ride the horse who secured him last year’s Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday February 25th
Race 2: Citi Private Bank Hcp (C2) - 1600m (15:30 AEST)
(6) Sweet Encounter deserves to be short here. Small field, he’s the most promising and has an explosive turn of speed which should do wonders for him over the mile with plenty of room to move.
(3) Atullibigeal is the clear danger having won impressively up the inside last time. Backs up here with Zac Purton aboard.
(4) Fantastic Treasure looks likely to get a rails run under James Mcdonald and drops in grade for this race. Not out of it.
(6) Sweet Encounter win
$2.40 (2 units)
Race 5: Citi Ultima Hcp (C4) - 1200m (17:00 AEST)
(7) Call Me Glorious is on debut here. He’s a massive horse for a 3yo and has produced a near faultless trial preparation prior to this debut. He’s drawn wide but should coast across to lead and be hard to run down.
(6) Geneva would be the main danger given the race experience and slightly better draw. Should do less work.
(4) Telecom Dragon is one of the more experienced horses in the field. Was slow away last time which cost him dearly. If he jumps better with the 2.5kg claim here he can threaten.
(7) Call Me Glorious e/w
$4.80/$2.00 (1 unit)
Race 6: Citi Wealth Advisory Services Hcp (C4) - (17:35 AEST)
(10) Smart Fighter might be a little confused walking up to barrier 3 today. He’s had double figure barriers all prep and has been running out of skin. Huge chance today.
(4) Panda Legend beat Smart Fighter last time with a better run. Looks like those tables might turn today but this horse has to be respected given their form lines tie in.
(2) Circuit Mighty boasts quite a strong record over this trip. He’s a big price here but should get quite a nice run. One to keep an eye on.
(10) Smart Fighter win
$2.90 (2 units)
