Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, February 28th 2024
Race 1: Sportsbet Fastform Plate - 10:30am (AEDT)
(6) Vail Mountain gets the nod for the in-form Hayes stable on the back of two thirds to date. She has drawn well in 2 for Currie and last start at Cranbourne she made up good ground late and I think this track will suit her better. She will settle around 4th in the run I reckon and I reckon she is at 100 percent fitness now so she will take some beating.
(4) Jammin Jimmy was runner-up on debut after making up late ground therefore has risen in distance for the Mitch Freedman camp. Allen keeps the ride and from barrier 9 he may settle around 6th on the outside here I reckon. A slight concern is that he gets caught wide though.
(1) Arc De Puissance will be better for recent race experience and a bigger track might aid here. Another who made up good late ground last start at Hamilton (3rd).
(6) Vail Mountain
$3.60 (2 Units)
Race 3: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap - 11:30am (AEDT)
(2) Et Tu Brute races in an easier race here after having no luck in the C.S Hayes Stakes last start at Flemington (7th). He did make up ground though behind the quality King Colorado and Riff Rocket and he won’t have to chase the quality of those horses down here today. Lane is on top and will just ease into the race from the second half of the field and he should be too strong late.
(3) Storm Watch got up by a nose on debut at Werribee and Allen stays on. He ran on too that day and it did look like he could make a nice stayer.
(4) Border Visage was big odds at Colac last start when 4th but couldn’t get out in the run. This is harder but it does look like he likes Dry ground.
(2) Et Tu Brute
$1.70 (4 Units)
Race 8: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap - 2pm (AEDT)
(10) Keitel is a strong looking grey who put in a poor one at Colac last start (4th) but before that won by 2L at Pakenham after letting down well late. Lane hops on for the first time and from barrier 2 should put him into a lovely position in the run. He knows how to win a race having won 3 from 4 career starts including a victory on Dry ground which he gets again. He is 100 percent fit now and will be strong to the line.
(7) Lethal Thoughts does have to carry 61kg first up but has shown enough promise so far in his career. He has only trialed up fairly but he has won first up previously.
(11) Hooah Havana ran on well and almost got there at Flemington when 3rd. He is in good form after winning at Terang but that and he has never missed a top 3 finish in 5 starts on Dry tracks.
(10) Keitel
$4.60 (2 Units)
