Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, February 4th 2023
Race 2
(5) Lekvarte gets the nod for her 2n consecutive race here. She was slowly away from an inside draw last time and wasn’t given room early enough to wind up and impact the finish. She still ran 3rd and closed strongly over the line but from gate 7 this time on a drier track I expect her to go better than 3rd and win this race, particularly with the amount of speed on paper.
(3) Ella Te Ama will also be advantaged by a fast tempo as she can hold a midfield position and time her run. She was 2nd to Banana Queen last time who had the better run on the day but can turn the tables with a nice weight swing and better race setup of the two horses this time.
(1) Banana Queen is the measuring stick in this race having won her last 3 starts. She does look vulnerable in this however with so much speed on paper and a wide draw to contend with. Can’t have her so short but she’s a top chance.
(5) Lekvarte Each-Way
$9/$2.60 (1 Unit)
Race 5
(3) Rupertaar deserves a win and she can get it here. She’s drawn well in gate 4 and should land leader’s back or thereabouts in the run. She had no luck last time in a $1 million Magic Millions WFA race but wasn’t far off supreme talents Centrefire and Eleven Eleven. That form trumps anything this field can bring to the table so expect a dominant display from Rupertaar this time.
(9) Super Bright will also get a nice run from gate 1 and should be able to work into the placings. She did that last time from back in the field behind Dalaalaat so there’s no reason she should do any different here.
(4) Pretty Wild is a talented mare and has been rated by some as quite a special young prospect. She’s yet to bring that to race day consistently although she’s beaten Pizarro and run well against some horses who have turned out to be quite capable. She’s too short on what she’s done to date but she could win if she turns up especially if the market is behind her.
(3) Rupertaar Each-Way
$6.60/$2.30 (1 Unit)
Race 7
(1) Remarque looks ready to rock and roll after trialling the house down over 900m in his lead up hit-out. His 1st up record is great and there’s no question he loves dry tracks which he’s sure to get on Saturday. Hard to see him going down here 1st up and the price looks generous.
(2) Andermatt is probably the 2nd best horse in this race on raw ability and he’s got James McDonald aboard here. He was poor on resuming in Melbourne but he passed his latest trial and has to be respected in this.
(10) Kote is short here. He’s a great horse and provided his followers with plenty of success last preparation but he took advantage of significant leading biases and seemingly preferred some give in the ground. Neither of those things will be in his favour on Saturday so although he’s talented, he’s only one for minors here.
(1) Remarque Win
$3.80 (2 Units)
