Astralis are once again coming into the tournament as the favourites to win it all, priced around 2.20, which is fair. They are a former number one team in the world, which puts a huge target on their back, as every top 10 team will be looking to take them down, especially after less than impressive performance Astralis put up at the ECS Season 7 Finals. In the ECS S7 Finals, Astralis lost two matches against an upcoming Brazilian team Furia, which quite frankly was a huge surprise to anyone.
Astralis were the better team in that match, but it felt like some rust accumulated on them, after playing only BLAST event for the past five months. Following a disastrous show at ECS S7 Finals, the pressure will be on Astralis to prove their worth once more. If they do not at least reach the finals, I believe there will be a lot of reasons to be concerned, as another disappointing result just may look like their current line-up has run its course. With that in mind, I would strongly advise against betting on Astralis. While they have got a lot to prove and arguably a strong team that is capable of doing so, I do not like betting on teams under pressure, especially when the pressure is as huge as the one above Astralis.
Talking about #1 team in the world, the new leaders of the HLTV rankings, Team Liquid deservingly passed Astralis and will look to remain #1 for a bit longer. Looking back at the last 6 months, Team Liquid were the best team out of all CS:GO team out there. They have won 3 big tournaments, which clearly points to good form and motivation to keep the momentum going. While the upcoming event will by no means be an easy one, I am confident saying Team Liquid gathered enough momentum up to this point, and with their line-up of high-quality players, there is no doubt in my mind they can go all the way and cement themselves as the number one team!
