Moonee Valley Racing Tips for Friday March 17th

March 17th 2017, 10:32am, By: The Maverick

We’re back at Moonee Valley for an eight-race card this Friday night. While all the talk this week is about Saturday’s showdown between Winx and Chautauqua, we have a great card on offer for us on Friday night. And hopefully, we few winners!

Moonee Valley Betting Tips – Friday March 17th

Race 1

A lot of debutants for the opening race so hard to get too excited. Going with SAM’S IMAGE on top with race experience under the belt. Was impressive on debut winning in Benalla and proved up to city grade last start.

TIP: Sam’s Image

Race 2

Sniper should strip fitter here and didn’t have a lot of luck second-up, while Our Lucky Omens was solid in the Launceston Cup and offers a good price dropping back to the mile. However going with FASTNET LATINA for the hat trick of victories. Has progressed nicely through the grades and the step up in distance shouldn’t pose a problem. Hard to beat.

TIP: Fastnet Latina

Race 3

Very keen on PUNT CLUB here to bounce back into the winner’s stalls. Needs to be given the right run up on speed and with a strong trial win in between runs, looks the one to beat here. The threats include Aunty Mo who has shown a liking to the 955m distance, and Secret Blend who is resuming but can measure up here.

TIP: Punt Club

Race 4

Wangala has started odds on favourite both starts this preparation and broke through for an impressive win in maiden company last start. Looks a promising type, but this is harder and we’re not getting a great price to take the risk. There are a few consistent types who may challenge here at odds including Centenary Shot, Bloodlette and I Am Ruben. However putting STONE WARRIOR on top here. Has been racing well, coming off a win in Adelaide and the step up in distance should suit. Has only missed a place twice in ten starts so should be right in the finish.

TIP: Stone Warrior

Race 5

Athena Lass has been racing in good company, but hasn’t been able to hit the line in front. Winkers will be applied for the first time which may help. Sure to be a contender but going to look elsewhere. Bella Vino looks hard to beat second-up here, but the price is short so going with a bit of value here instead with two horses both gunning for a hat trick of wins.  This is a tougher test for KISSEE MEE but has worked through the grades and was strong winning in Kilmore last start. I also like the look of BALANCING ACT coming off back-to-back wins at Weribee over this distance. Winning form is good form and with both horses in double digits, we can back both and hope for a nice result.

TIP: Kissee Mee / Balancing Act

Race 6

Bassett resumed in impressive style midweek at Sandown with a strong victory but won’t have such an easy time here. Santa Ana Lane resumes tonight after some strong performances last prep including a Group 3 place. The blinkers go off and looks well suited. But hard to go past DEMONSTRATE as top pick. Resumed last prep with a runner-up to Hellbent and then won the next three. Maps well and enjoys the track/distance. Will be right in the finish.

TIP: Demonstrate

Race 7

Best bet of the night here with FARSON who has won three in a row for us before connections decided to bypass the Australian Guineas to focus on this race. Has lead all the way and proven impossible to get past working up the distances, and it’s hard to see where the improvement will come from others to stop him here. The main threat is likely to come from Tasmanian Oaks winner Parthesia who offers good value in this race. Will be well back in the run but flying home.

TIP: Farson (BEST BET)

Race 8

Tricky race to finish on with a number of chances. Exocet is a class horse who has been competitive in stronger races and comes up favourite alongside Tan Tat Beauty. Both horses are resuming and may need the run, so looking outside of them for some value. Going with EL RADA at a nice each-way price. A proven performer over this trip, goes from blinkers to winkers for the first time and should enjoy a good run.

TIP: El Rada E/W  (BEST VALUE)
