The Valley will host some exciting racing from 6:15pm (AEDT) on Friday night with eight races to be won. We like one in the first too, with three best bets covered on the night with the Australia Stakes being the feature in Race 7. The Quaddie starts at 8:15pm in what looks to be an open race and we will try our luck there too. The three best bets and the Quaddie are below, with gallopers running on a Good track.
Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, January 24th 2025
Race 1: Hygain Tracktorque Handicap - 6:15pm (AEDT)
(5) La Vie En won well at Warrnambool after starting odds on and I think she can position up in a similar position in this race. From barrier 3 I think she might settle behind the leader in 3rd and I think over the 1000m, it will be hard for the backmarkers to make up ground in the first of the night. Fred Kersley stays on after winning last time.
(6) Tonkin led and was too good for his rivals and I can see him leading again in this. The horse that ran 2nd in that race ran a disappointing 4th at Mornington on Wednesday.
(1) Skipjack is 2 from 2 on Dry ground and he has drawn well in barrier 2. Emily Pozman goes on and gets the claim so will only be carrying 58.5kg.
(5) La Vie En WIN
$2.80 (2 Units)
Race 2: Ascend Sales Trophies Maiden - 6:45pm (AEDT)
(10) Just Like Gaby is resuming here but did show enough in her first prep in the winter where she raced against better quality opposition to which she meets here. She should be fit enough because she has had 3 jumpouts leading into this race and she won last week at Cranbourne where she was pushed to extend. Barrier 4 looks good and I expect Thomas Stockdale to position her up in around 4th spot in the run.
(3) Appointed won his jumpout in slightly slower time to Gaby on January 13 but will have admirers. Resumes after being gelded.
(2) Documentary is a Nick Ryan first starter who has drawn wide in 11. Has been educated well before this with many jumpouts.
(10) Just Like Gaby WIN
$2.20 (2 Units)
Race 3: Piper-Heidiseck Handicap - 7:15pm (AEDT)
(2) Galilaeus returns to this track after running 4th when favourite over the same distance. He put in a Good run but the pace up front was probably too slow on that occasion. Jamie Mott stays on and might take off at the 800m again here I reckon and try to hit the front before they enter the bend. Mott has ridden him quite a bit now and will know his quirks. The horse has proven that he likes Dry tacks and connections have obviously set him for one of these longer journeys at The Valley.
(6) Highland Blaze might like the sting at of the ground but the Shane Jackson gelding can stay all day and you might get juicy Place odds here after he ran a drum at Geelong last week.
(3) Bitcoin is very fit but is another who probably goes better on rain-affected ground. Was unlucky here when 5th on December 28 and he will be even money the Place.
(2) Galilaeus WIN
$1.90 (3 Units)
