A-League Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Central Coast Mariners
CommBank Stadium, Friday 17th January, 7:35pm AEDT
The Wanderers are 8th on the ladder with 18 points from 12 matches, having secured 5 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses. Their recent 2-1 victory over Perth Glory has provided a confidence boost as they look to build momentum. Playing at home, the Wanderers will aim to continue their steady progress and tighten their defensive organisation to secure another important result.
The Mariners, sitting 10th with 14 points from 12 matches, are coming off a tough 4-1 loss to Sydney FC. Their season so far includes 3 wins, 5 draws, and 4 losses. Defensive frailties have been a recurring issue for the Mariners, and they’ll need a much-improved performance to stay competitive against a determined Wanderers side.
This match is an opportunity for the Wanderers to consolidate their position in the top half of the table, while the Mariners will be desperate to bounce back from their recent setback. Recent form certainly favours the Wanderers, while home ground gives them even greater advantage. With that said, I’m more than happy to be with the Wanderers for 2.5 units here.

Auckland FC vs Melbourne City
Go Media Stadium, Saturday 18th January, 3:00pm AEDT
Auckland have been strong at home this season, with four wins, one draw, and one loss from six matches. Their defence has been particularly strong, helping them secure crucial results. With the backing of their supporters, Auckland will be confident of extending their strong home form and keeping things tight at the back.
Melbourne City, however, has been impressive on the road, remaining unbeaten in their last six away games, including four wins. Their recent 1-0 victory over Brisbane Roar highlighted their defensive organisation and resilience. City’s ability to stay disciplined and organised, combined with their effectiveness on the counter, will be crucial as they look to break down Auckland’s defence.
While Auckland will have the advantage of playing at home, City’s recent form gives them the edge in this encounter in my opinion. With their solid defence and clinical counter-attacking play, City will be well-placed to cause an upset and secure an important victory in what promises to be a tightly contested match.

Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory
Coopers Stadium, Saturday 18th January, 7:35pm AEDT
Adelaide have been in strong form this season, sitting in second place with 24 points from 11 matches, including 7 wins, 3 draws, and just 1 loss. Their most recent result was a 2-1 victory over Wellington Phoenix, continuing their solid form. Adelaide's defensive organisation has been a key factor in their success, and they’ll look to maintain that against a struggling Melbourne Victory side.
Melbourne Victory, on the other hand, have been enduring a tough run, remaining winless in their last five matches. Their most recent match ended in a 3-4 loss to Western United, which highlights their ongoing issues with defensive instability. With only 19 points from 12 matches, including 5 wins, 4 draws, and 3 losses, Melbourne Victory has struggled to find consistency. To challenge Adelaide, they’ll need to tighten their defence and improve their attacking transitions.
While Melbourne Victory has the potential to cause an upset, Adelaide's superior form, solid defensive record, and recent win make them the favourites. Adelaide is well-placed to extend their winning run and secure another three points at home.
