NBA Betting Tips: Thursday, October 31st 2024
Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers (10am AEDT)
The Pistons enter Thursdays slate winless which is no surprise considering recent seasons. Cade Cunningham as done all he can to help his ball club, yet they’ve fallen short on all four occasions. Most recently, the Pistons went down by eight points on the road to Miami in the first game of their current road trip.
The 76ers continue to be without the superstar pairing of Joel Embiid and new recruit Paul George, yet they still managed to find their first win with a 118-114 scalp against the Pacers last outing. A lot of the heavy lifting has been left on star guard Tyrese Maxey, but he’s shown to be up to the task when asked to do a lot.
Despite being without arguably their best two players, the 76ers will enter Thursday’s game as the favourites and deservedly so. Not only do they have homecourt advantage on their side, but they also face a club in the Pistons who simply do not know how to win. I’m happy to back Maxey in to lead his chargers to a 5+ point win here.

New York Knicks at Miami Heat (10:30am AEDT)
The Knicks entered this season with high expectations but have had a wobbly start with only one win through three games. They were blown out of the park by the defending champions in Boston on opening day, but managed a big win against the Pacers before losing a tight on against the in-form Cavaliers.
The Heat are always an interesting watch early in the season because they’re usually slow starters. They began proceedings with an easy home loss against the Magic by 19 points, but bounced back with strong wins against the lowly Hornets and the winless Pistons.
The Knicks are expected to do big things this campaign and rightly so consideringly the roster they’ve assembled. And despite having the inferior record of the two clubs in this matchup, I expect them to come out on top.

Portland Trail Blazers at Los Angeles Clippers
The Trail Blazers are one of many ball clubs that are in a rebuilding stage and are a team that aren’t to be assessed on by their win/loss record. However, they’re 1-3 so far and have had a couple of big losses to their name, which is to be expected considering the lack of talent on their roster.
The Clippers continue to play without Kawhi Leonard who will be on the sidelines indefinitely, however, the likes of Zubac, Powell, and Harden have been fantastic so far with the trio averaging nearly 70 points per game between them. As a result, the Clippers head into Thursday’s slate at 2-1.
The Clippers, albeit without Leonard, have far superior talent as well as homecourt advantage in this matchup. I’m surprised the handicap hasn’t been set at double-figures here, and I’m happy to bet the home club to win easily.
Clippers -7.5
