2024 AFL Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
Collingwood vs Adelaide
Saturday 1:45pm AEST, May 18th, MCG
After a slow start to their premiership defence, Collingwood have well and truly hit their straps in season 2024 and are now unbeaten in six games since starting off 0-3.
The Magpies most recently dismantled the listless Eagles at Marvel Stadium by 66 points (103-37), led by a Nick Daicos masterclass (36 disposals, one goal) in his first matchup against Harley Reid.
The reigning champs were able to dominate their Round 9 clash from start to finish despite having one of the longest injury lists in the competition. The Pies lost another couple of players against the Eagles with Jeremy Howe and Jack Bytel both going down, although they’ll regain a handy pair in Lachie Schultz and Jordan De Goey for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
Also getting off to a well-documented slow start to the season were Adelaide. Despite being one of the fancied teams to have a breakthrough campaign, they started the year with four straight losses. However, they’ve since bounced back with a 3-1-1 record from their past five games to breathe some life into their season.
The Crows have taken a couple of handy scalps in recent weeks, knocking off a pair of premiership contenders in the Blues and the Power. They also nearly took a third scalp last weekend, but had to settle for a share of the points against last season’s runner-up in the Lions.
A big blow in their draw against the Lions was intercept defender Josh Worrell badly fracturing his arm in the second half, which came moments after they tactically subbed out first-year defender Dan Curtin. Both men are out this weekend, with the former set to spend 8-12 weeks on the sidelines and the latter being omitted.
Match Prediction: The Magpies have obviously been the better team over the last couple of years and that’s reflected in their H2H count against the Crows, with the Pies winning each of their past eight meetings. However, their past three clashes have all been nail-biting finishes, with the Pies winning by 5, 1, and 2 points.
The reigning premiers clearly deserve to be favourites on Saturday although recent fixtures suggest we should be in for a tight tussle. The line has been set at 19.5 points at Ladbrokes, and I can see the underdogs covering that on recent form.

Izak Rankine 2+ Goals – Clearly one of the form players of the competition at the moment. He’s been hitting the scoreboard for fun of late and should be good for another couple here.
Bobby Hill 1+ Goal – Has kicked a goal in 7/9 games to date including 2.3 last weekend. He goes in our multi again.
Jordan Dawson 25+ Disposals – Continues to put in huge performances and is coming off one of his best against the Lions. Should be getting to at least 25 again.
Scott Pendlebury 20+ Disposals – After a slowish start to the year, Pendles has hit his straps. He’s spending the majority of the game in the midfield and that should see him accumulate.
