2024 The Masters Betting Tips
Augusta National, Thursday 11th - Sunday 14th April
It’s been a bit of a quieter few weeks on the PGA Tour following The Players Championship, but the best players in the world will all be on show this weekend for the first major of the year. As expected, the field is jam packed with talent, led by the surprise inclusion of the biggest name in golf, Tiger Woods.
The Field
Woods will suit up for his first tournament since the Genesis Invitational back in February, where he withdrew from the event at the conclusion of the first round.
At the top of the betting markets, however, you’ll find the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay and Viktor Hovland.
The field will also be boosted by the inclusion of LIV contracted golfers, for one of the few PGA Tour sanctioned tournaments they are allowed to compete in. Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson and Joaquin Niemann headline these names.
The Course
Augusta National Golf Course
Par 72, 7,510 Yards
Designer: Alister McKenzie/Bobby Jones
Augusta National, the hallowed ground where golfing dreams take flight, has been etched into the annals of sporting history. Revered by enthusiasts and professionals alike, it stands as a testament to precision, strategy, and the pursuit of excellence.
The course has undergone subtle changes ahead of the 2022edition. The Par-4 11th now spans 505 to 520 yards, while the Par-5 15th extends from 530 to 550 yards. Jon Rahm shot 12 under par to win the tournament last year on a brilliant putting performance.
Betting Tips
Best Bet Rankings
Scottie Scheffler ($5.00 at Betfair)
There is almost no meat left on the bone for Scheffler but how can you deny his form at the moment. The way he is playing, he is almost guaranteed to be in the mix on Sunday afternoon, having finished in the top 10 of his last six straight tournaments including back to back wins at the two biggest, the Arnold Palmer and The Players. T19, T18, 1st and T10 in four trips to Augusta.
Xander Schauffele ($15 at Betfair)
Like the value for Xander Schauffele this week, with the World No.5 coming off a T2 finish at The Players behind Scheffler followed by a T5 the very next week at the Valspar Championship. Has great form at Augusta, missing the cut just once and finishing in the top 20 four times in six attempts.
Jordan Spieth ($19 at Betfair)
If there is one player in this field outside of Tiger Woods who boasts a glittering career at Augusta, it’s Jordan Spieth. In 10 trips to Augusta, Spieth has missed the cut just once and racked up six top 10 finishes to go along with his win in 2015.
Value Plays
Patrick Reed ($67 at Betfair)
Everyone is targeting Brooks and Smith from the LIV contingent pretty heavily but I like the value for Patrick Reed. Usually plays well at Augusta, making five straight cuts with three top 10s since his win in 2018.
Justin Rose ($111 at Betfair)
Another one who always seems to show up at the Masters is the Englishman Justin Rose. 8/10 cuts made in his last 10 trips and seven of those finishing in the top 16.
Corey Conners ($67 at Betfair)
The Canadian has not missed a cut in his last seven tournaments on the PGA Tour and has a pretty underrated record at Augusta despite missing the cut last year. 2019-22 finishes read T46, T10, T8 and T6.
