NBA Betting Tips: Thursday, March 14th 2024
Cleveland Cavaliers at New Orleans Pelicans
Smoothie King Center, 11am AEDT
The Cavaliers come into Thursday’s matchup struggling for form with back-to-back home losses against the Nets and the Suns, making it four defeats from their last six games in total. Making matters worse, their injury list continues to grow and is now six long, including names like Evan Mobley, Max Strus and Dean Wade, while Donovan Mitchell is also a day-to-day. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have a clean bill of health aside from role player Dyson Daniels. The Pels have won four straight games including three in a row at home and will return home to play on Thursday. Their most recent home game resulted in an easy 27-point win against the Pacers. Needless to say, the Pels deserve to be heavy favourites and should be winning this one comfortably.

Golden State Warriors at Dallas Mavericks
American Airlines Center, 11:30am AEDT
The Warriors enter the Thursday slate off a 10-point win against the rebuilding Spurs which snapped a two-game slide. They’ve lost three of their last games and two of them were by blowout margins. Steph Curry remains on the sidelines which has Chris Paul starting at the point guard position, which hasn’t worked well early doors. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are enjoying one of their best passages of the season with wins in each of their last three games, all of which gave been comfortable margins. They now return home where they’ll start as the heavy favourites and for good reason considering their full bill of health. Simply put, without Curry, it’s tough to see the Warriors getting close on current form and I’m happy to side with the healthy and in-form Mavs to cover the spread as a result.
Dallas Mavericks -7.5

Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento Kings
Golden 1 Center, 1pm AEDT
The Lakers finished up a six-game home-stand a couple of days ago with a 4-2 record which was decent enough. However, they now hit the road where they’ve struggled over the season as a whole with only 12 wins in 31 games. They also now face the Kings who have been their bogey team over the past couple of seasons. The Lakers have lost the last four games in this matchup including one at home only a couple of weeks ago by 10 points. On top of that, the Kings have won seven of their 11 games and will be feeling relatively good about themselves. With all of that in mind, taking the Kings to get the job done again represent great value.
