Draftstars have announced a new addition to their racing product which is sure to ease a few frustrations for players of their Draftstars racing contests.
All horse racing and greyhound racing contests on Draftstars will now offer a Substitute feature. It works similarly to the Quaddie in wagering when your selection is scratched from a race. If your selection is scratched at any time, and you don’t have time to swap them out of your Draftstars lineup before the jump, then you will automatically receive the race favourite as your substitute selection.
The Substitute gives you a chance to still earn points from the race, rather than the guaranteed donut you would get from your scratched horse.
The Substitute will apply to all scratched runners after the race has been run, so even if your horse is scratched at the barriers, you’ll still get the race favourite as a replacement choice.
Of course, if you have time you can use the Runner Swap feature to change your selection to any other horse up until the scheduled race time.
The Substitute takes place after correct weight and dividends are final on SuperTab, which is usually around 10 minutes after correct weight.
You’ll see the blue “SUB” label next to your selection in your lineup if a substitution has occurred.

Draftstars racing tournaments are a lot of fun and the new Substitute feature is a nice way to provide a safety net for your selections!
