Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday October 14th
Race 1: Arc St Leger – 2600m (12:30 AEDT)
(4) Benaud is the top pick here with Montefilia form who won the Hill Stakes last weekend with Protagonist in behind for 3rd. Good draw for the horse and no reason he can’t win here.
(2) Kalapour is a serial placegetter at the moment and needs to convert that into winning form. 3rd in the Group 1 last time reads well for him.
(1) Major Beel gets a solo lead here which he’s been waiting for his last few races. If he assumes control early he’ll be hard to catch.
(4) Benaud - Win
$4.60 (2 Units)
Race 2: Bm78 Hcp – 1400m (12:05 AEDT)
(5) Garza Blanca is showing how good that Smashing Eagle form is. He’s flying and can win here even with top weight.
(4) Grebeni is fresh and has a lot of weight but his recent trial was too good to ignore. Great e/w play if you’re looking for something at a bit of a price.
(13) Ivan’s Hero under James McDonald here is a threat. He’s a big price for a reason and that reason is his form is subpar to some of his rivals here but with a bit of luck he can feature.
(5) Garza Blanca - Win
$3.30 (2 Units)
Race 3: Listed Reginald Allen Quality – 1400m (12:40 AEDT)
(4) Arctic Glamour wowee. What a performance 1st up to absolutely towel her rivals over 1200m. She went down narrowly to Joliestar on debut but was coming from back in the field over only 1100m. 1400m here and she deserves to almost start odds-on I believe.
(2) Aditi was flat 2nd up after a huge win 1st up. Maybe she needed that run and can perform well here from the front in a race which seems to lack some pressure up front.
(6) Queen Of Dragons is drawn perfectly off a win and could sneak some runs to make it into the finish here. Good e/w value.
(4) Arctic Glamour - Win
$2.45 (2 Units)
Race 4: Group 3 Gloaming Stakes – 1800m (13:15 AEDT)
(3) Tom Kitten is very hard to look past in this event. He was 3rd last time at much shorter odds than he is here and he sets up far better with gate 3 and an extra 200m.
(1) Tannhauser was scratched from the Dulcify where I actually thought he was a solid chance at a nice price. I still think the same here for him although he’s drawn less favourably he should be rocketing home with Jmac in the saddle.
(2) Ganbare can cross to lead from the wide gate here. He won’t have any other option which means he may assume control of this race and prove hard to run down.
No Tip
Race 5: The Kosciuszko – 1200m (13:50 AEDT)
(7) Opal Ridge is impossible to go past with her credentials here. She’s drawn well and although she doesn’t have the best gate speed, she’s a group 1 capable mare racing against largely country horses.
(8) Mogo Magic has only 1 blip in his entire race and trial career having run 2nd in his first ever trial. Faultless since and can continue that record here from a good draw if he controls the race from the front.
(12) Derry Grove is flying at the moment. He’s one to keep an eye out for late in the race especially if they go hard early and tire out in the straight.
No Tip
Race 6: Group 3 Sydney Stakes – 1200m (14:25 AEDT)
(18) Smashing Eagle is back! Hopefully he gets in here because I think he’s capable of black type and can storm down the outside in this race to give this race a solid shake.
(11) Airman is best drawn of the horses who are single figures here. Won well last time and can settle midfield with cover looking for a run straightening.
(15) I Am Me goes in if she can cross to the rail in the lead. She’s well found here from the wide gate but is in this if she gets some luck and overcomes that tough starting position.
(18) Smashing Eagle - E/W
$41/$9 (1 Unit)
Race 7: The Everest – 1200m (15:15 AEDT)
(10) Espiona is flying. She’s my mare to follow for the season and gets her shot at the big one here after blitzing her opposition last time. She’ll get a dream run under Hugh Bowman from gate 3 and will only need some luck late.
(6) Buenos Noches won’t need so much luck so goes in as the danger for me with a swooping run around the outside of the field. If the horses inside get crowded, this horse will be coming home strongly with momentum late.
(2) Private Eye is the benchmark here having almost won last year’s Everest and winning his way into this race this year with a massive win in The Shorts.
(10) Espiona - E/W
$16/$4.40 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Silver Eagle – 1300m (15:50 AEDT)
(14) Vienna Princess gets a great run here. Was electric 1st up under Joao Moreira and can back that up here with Kerrin McEvoy aboard from gate 4.
(3) Ruthless Dame is overdue for a win and should find this a whole lot easier than the G2 The Shorts last time. Gate 3 will suit her and she should be strong late.
(1) Pericles is just a war horse. There’s no way around it he knows where the winning post is and definitely knows what the job is when he’s out there on the racetrack. Zac Purton can steer him to victory here even from a wide gate.
(14) Vienna Princess - E/W
$13/$4 (1 Unit)
Race 9: Group 1 King Charles III Stakes – 1600m (16:35 AEDT)
(5) Light Infantry Man brings absolutely phenomenal form here from overseas. He was unlucky not to finish a hell of a lot closer last year in the Golden Eagle (where Fangirl ran 2nd) and sets up beautifully under one of the world’s greatest jockeys to take revenge on Australian soil here.
(2) Mr Brightside is the best horse in the country currently according to most judges and racing fans. The picket fence says it all with 2 of those wins at G1 level. Horse is undefeated here and has won 10 from 14 over the mile.
(14) Fangirl should eat up the ground late after she receives a soft run on the rail from gate 2 under James McDonald. She rounds out a clear top 3 in my books.
(5) Light Infantry Man - E/W
$10/$3.20 (1 Unit)
Race 10: Group 3 Angst Stakes – 1600m (17:10 AEDT)
(10) More Secrets looked great prior to her run in the Golden Pendant and she went well there against horses well above her grade. She’s well-placed here on 54kg with a good draw in a much weaker race. Should win.
(3) Frumos hasn’t been what most had hoped but she’s only 5 and can still improve into this preparation. She wasn’t the worst 1st up but would need to improve here. Overhyped?
(4) Renaissance Woman was solid without many favours 1st up. Better draw, more fitness and less weight here should see her amongst the leading division late.
(10) More Secrets - E/W
$5/$2 (3 Units) Betr
