PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Betting Tips
TPC River Highlands, Connecticut. Thursday 22nd - Sunday 25th June
It was a fantastic week for Before You Bet golf followers at the U.S. Open on the weekend. Two of our three picks were contending for the tournament down the stretch in Scottie Scheffler and Rickie Fowler, while our third pick Tyrrell Hatton also had a strong weekend, finishing T27. We’ll be looking to carry over that form into Connecticut this week.
The Field
Being an elevated event with $20m on the line, the field for the Travelers is predictably jam-packed full of talent. Scottie Scheffler will be back in action and the favourite in the betting market, closely followed by Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa.
Past winners of the event who will be looking to add another trophy to the case include Schauffele, Harris English, Chez Reavie, Russel Knox and Kevin Streelman.
The Course
TPC River Highlands is a prestigious golf course located in Cromwell, Connecticut. The course, originally designed by Robert J. Ross in 1928 and subsequently renovated, spans approximately 148 acres and features a picturesque layout that incorporates rolling hills, trees, and water hazards.
The par-70 course measures around 6,841 yards from the championship tees, providing a challenging yet rewarding experience for professional golfers and enthusiasts alike. TPC River Highlands is best known for its signature holes, such as the iconic "Golden Bell" 15th hole and the atmospheric "Bullpen" 16th hole, both contributing to the course's rich history and memorable moments in golf.
Betting Tips
Scottie Scheffler ($7.50/Top 10 $1.90)
Hard to look past the No.1 player in the world at the moment. He has been nearly as unbeatable as it’s possible to be without actually winning a tournament over the last few months. In his last eight tournaments, he has lost to a total of just 33 players. He has finished 11th or better in all of those starts and his last five starts read T5, T2, T3, 3rd and 3rd. His ball striking numbers are at record breaking levels at the moment and if he can just figure out the flat stick he could win any given tournament by 10 strokes.
Jason Day ($41/Top 30 $2.15)
Missed the cut at the US Open, which actually made it three missed cuts in a row since his win at the AT&T Byron Nelson about a month ago. Picking him to bounce back into some form at a course he knows extremely well. The Travelers is an annual stop for Day and he has recorded four top 12 finishes in his last six trips to TPC River Highlands.
Brian Harman ($67/Top 40 $2.05)
Harman was impressive amongst a strong field at the US Open, finishing T43. Why I like him this week, however, is his great record at TPC River Highlands. He has played the Travleres every season since all the way back in 2012, racking up five top 10s and only missing the cut twice in that period.
