Nine races are on the program at Flemington on Saturday and despite most of the focus being with Queensland Racing this weekend, this program is a pretty good one.
The first race is an early one at 11:50am, with the last of the afternoon concluding at 4:40pm on what should be a Good track despite light rain falling on Flemington on Thursday and Friday.

Flemington Racing Tips – Saturday, May 20th 2023
Race 2: Living Legends Plate - 12:25pm (AEST)
(8) Tropicconi is nice odds here i reckon and has been looking for the 1400m which she gets here. She is first up at Flemington and over this distance but he has been running on in her races and at the odds is worth a small wager. She is 1 from 1 on the Good so i am hoping to track stays that way for this one after his encouraging run at Mornington, albeit 8th of 12 at Mornington last start. That was in a Group race and this is easier.
(5) Lady Jones has a good record over this trip and was another who was doing her best work last start when winning at Pakenham. She is 2 from 4 on the Good and will again want the speed on so she can hit the line hard. 2nd try at Headquarters!
(4) Charming Di is very fit now but barrier 11 is a slight concern. She hasn’t been too far away in her last 3 starts, beaten less than 3L in all runs.
(2) Grey River will start fav and returns from SA after a solid 5th in a Group 2 race. Hasn’t got the best form on Good tracks but if it's downgraded to Soft, she goes up in the selections.
(8) Tropicconi - WIN
$13 (1 Unit)
Race 5: SEN Track Supports the NJT Trophy - 2:10pm (AEST)
(14) Yarrawonga for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott have put Linda Meech on this front running gelding and I think he will give a great sight out in front again. He hasn’t won in a long time but his performances (2nds) of late at Kensington and Warwick Farm suggest that he is ready. The Soft track is a bonus and Meech does ride well for Gai.
(10) Mimi’s Award has been consistent without winning of late but does like this distance and should be in the money again.
(6) Golden Crusader has won 4 from 8 on the Soft but has a wide barrier (14) which hinders his winning chances.
(5) Pesto has always placed at this distance and did run well in a Flemington jumpout last week.
(14) Yarrawonga - WIN
$4.40 (2 Units)
Race 8: VJA WInter Championship Trophy - 4:05pm (AEST)
(6) Keats looks the leader from barrier 2 and if he can control the tempo, he should be in this for a long way. Despite having never placed at Flemington after 3 attempts, the Galileo/Airwave gelding has won four from 12 on the Soft surface. He led all bar the winning post last start, when Gunstock (a strong horse) caught him late. He should be 100 percent fit now and ready to fire.
(8) Visinari has put in a few poor ones this prep but has raced well at Flemington before. Was backed to win at Warrnambool last start when unplaced.
(3) Pinstriped was way too good last start in a 250k mile race at Hillside and cant be left out here. Handles Flemington but hasn’t placed over the track & distance yet.
(2) Cherry Tortoni loves Soft ground but is racing poorly. Will place nice place odds though if you fancy.
(6) Keats - WIN
$4 (2 Units)
Race 9: Jockey Assistance Program Plate - 4:40pm (AEST)
(4) Dazzling Lucy was beaten a nose last start at Hillside and she should improve on that effort. Barrier 13 might be okay later in the day and she has got a good turn of foot to run over the top of them. Her 2nd up form is solid and she is 2 from 3 over this distance.
(1) Typhoon Titmus is probably the best horse in the race but is first up with 61kg. She will be looking for further in a few weeks and if she runs well here, it might be top to back her then.
(5) Gunna Gunna is running well and has won 4 from 9 on Soft tracks. She is very fit and will settle on speed.
(7) Zarafa goes well fresh and did win a Flemington jumpout last week on a Soft surface. Yendall is on and barrier 15 might be okay in this.
(4) Dazzling Lucy - WIN
$3.50 (2 Units)
