Racing returns to the home of Victorian Thoroughbred Racing on Saturday… Flemington.
A nine race program awaits and punters will be keen to have a crack on a track that should be rated in the Soft range with just little rain during the week.
Race one gets underway at 11:55am AEST, and I have provided my four best bets on the card for our readers. The Listed Andrew Ramsden is the highlight with the winner getting a guaranteed start into this year's Melbourne Cup.

Flemington Racing Tips – Saturday, May 13th 2023
Race 3: Sir Eugene Gorman Handicap - 1:05pm (AEST)
(9) Party For One has been blacked to win her last couple and although she hasn’t won, she has run quite well on both occasions. On the Soft at Hillside last start she ran home very nicely and I think she has drawn well here (5) and will get the last crack at them over the 1400m. She rises 100m in distance again and Flemington should suit.
(5) Fortunate Kiss has drawn awkwardly in 11 I reckon but from all reports she has been working well and should place in this at good odds.
(4) Adele Amour has drawn well in 2 and did show a lot when younger. She needs to show that form again and is worth a place bet considering she has won here before and is fitter this time.
(1) Good and Proper has drawn terribly in 19 but did win well last start at Lakeside when storming home late. Will have to go back early.
(9) Party For One - WIN
$4 (2 Units)
Race 6: Hilton Nicholas Straight Six- 2:50pm (AEST)
(5) It’sourtime I will stick with again here after a solid run at Geelong (4th). He was then specked to go well at Warrnambool before being scratched and after a freshen up and with form on the Soft, I think he is worth a play. He has been placed in 4 Listed races and does run very well at Flemington having finished in the top 3 on 5 occasions from 7 starts.
(8) Zorro’s Dream had his admirers at Lakeside when 4th last start and he hasn't been too far away in his last 4 attempts. Flemington helps!
(4) D’Jumbuck has to be included after winning again at Lakeside last start. Has had a jumpout since and did look good in that too for Brian McGrath.
(2) She’s All Class was slow out of the barriers at Mornington last time so forgive that run. Placed 5 of 10 in Listed company.
(5) It’sourtime - WIN
$4.20 (2 Units)
Race 7: Andrew Ramsden - 3:30pm (AEST)
(3) Hezashocka returns to Flemington, a track he likes having won 2 from 9 races. Right You Are got the win last time at Mornington (Cup) when the two were too good for their opposition but this time I think this horse may be 3 to 4L clear of the fav (White Marlin) at the 200m mark and will hold on. He likes Soft and Heavy tracks which will suit him here and in the Spring (around Cup time).
(10) White Marlin returns to Flemington where he could not have been more impressive on Cup Day last year. He is the one to beat and will be a heavy favourite for the big one if wins and gets the guaranteed start. Jordan Childs is on and has won twice on top previously. He has won over the track & distance and anything over $2.20 is probably value.
(1) Vow and Declare is still going strong and the 2800m is no issue with recent training and races under his belt.
(17) Lunar Flare has won 3 from 10 on the Soft and will be running on late. 2800m looks ideal.
(3) Hezashocka - Each Way
$4.50/$1.95 (2 Units)
Race 8: Melbourne Cup Tour Trophy 4:10pm (AEST)
(4) King Magnus is progressing nicely and although he doesn’t race that well at Flemington, many of those races have been stronger than this one. He has a good winning strike rate having won 7 from 28 and Thomas Stockdale should be able to find a nice position with a couple of his key rivals drawing out wide. His 5th behind Cardinal Gem was pretty good last time at Hillside and he will likely settle midfield in the run here.
(7) Outlaws Revenge is on a relatively quick back-up (10 days) and is more than capable on a wet track. He will settle a couple of lengths in front of King Magnus.
(8) Morvada may lead this field like he did at Morphettville last start (7th). On that occasion he only went down by 2L and if the splits are slower, he has a big chance in this.
(10) Packing Waltham is first up but has been training well for the Hayes team. Rough hope.
(4) King Magnus - WIN
$6.50 (2 Units)
