Flemington hosts Group 1 Racing on Saturday with the running of the Newmarket Handicap which is race seven on the program at 4:20pm. In Secret is the likely favourite in what is a very open race.
Race one starts at 12:35pm and gallopers will race on a Good surface.

Race 1
(4) Shock ‘Em Ova should appreciate Flemington after he found The Valley a bit tight in his most recent outings over the 1600m and 2040m. Craig Williams will ride at 56.5kg and will ride the gelding for the first time. He will still get back but this time will have more opportunity to catch them over the concluding stages.
(3) Independent Road has been in the money 7 of 12 races at Flemington and is very fit. He didn't have much luck last start when 3rd and he will settle in the top 4 in the run.
(2) Sparkle was 3rd at Flemington last week and Blake Shinn sticks with him.
(1) Alverdun will find this race harder than his latest win at The Valley but he should get a cushy run in transit.
(4) Shock ‘Em Ova - Win

Race 5
(3) Barb Raider has won 4 from 10 on Good tracks and she does enjoy racing at Flemington. In the Mannerism last start she was very good when 5th but only beaten 1.7L and she will be fitter second up and he has won when second up previously. She hasn't won in a while and barrier 11 is a light concern but Willow is on and she will be ready for this. One start at the track and distance for 1 victory.
(4) Excelida is another who likes the track but hasn't won over the distance yet. Missed the start when 3rd at Flemington last time.
(5) Sirileo Miss has the inside draw but does run poorly at Flemington. The plus is that she loves Good ground so she is a place chance at odds.
(8) So You See is in fine form and another dry track is key. She won at Flemington last time but this is harder
(3) Barb Raider - WIN

Race 7
(16) Buenos Noches is back to 1200m which is ideal after a 1000m run here first up and a jumpout last week. He is only carrying 50.5kg for Ben Thompson and he will be very strong to the line late. From barrier 9 he will likely head to the outside fence. He likes Flemington and is well worth a play at double figure odds.
(15) In Secret for Team Cummings and Jamie Kah will have plenty of admirers and rightly so after being beaten by a nose in the Group 1 Surround Stakes at Rosehill last start. She has never missed a placing in her career which might attract the big place punters.
(1) Private Eye has a big finish on him but others are fitter and he will have to past quite a few in the run to win. Very good horse but there may be a race for him in a couple of weeks.
(2) Mazu has drawn very wide but that may help if they are running faster on the grandstand side. Has won 4 from 8 over this distance.
(16) Buenos Noches - WIN

Race 9
(2) Meridius has drawn well in barrier 3 and Mark Zahra should be able to position the colt up nicely here. He has only one the one race but has shown a lot of promise for Lloyd Kennewell and second up on Saturday he should be right in the mix when the whips are cracking. He has won second up previously and the distance is no problem. He ran on well for 6th when resuming at Lakeside and he should appreciate the long straight in this. He raced at Flemington on Derby Day against some good sorts, some who are going around in the Newmarket.
(11) Is It Me comes from Warrnambool for the Bowman team and Kah takes the ride. He smashed them at Penshurst winning his maiden for Mel Julius and has been to South Australia since. Toughest assignment yet but looks up to it.
(9) Big Story is a roughie but goes well fresh. Barrier 13 is a concern but he will go back anyway.
(8) Lethal Thoughts won a jumpout 2 weeks ago and is first up. Has won first up before and he has placed at Flemington.
