Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, January 14th
Race 1
(12) Steel City looks too good for this field. She was an expensive purchase at $700,000 and has supreme bloodlines being a half to September Run. Both trial wins have been exceptional and she burnt the clock in her latest Rosehill trial. Debutants can always be a bit risky but this one looks very capable.
(4) Red Resistance has been identified as the main danger by the market and I tend to agree. He’s drawn perfectly for a 2yo in gate 1 and is trained by the Waterhouse & Bott team so will be primed to run well. Should hold a prominent position and be right in the finish.
(11) Queen Of Dragons rounds out a fairly obvious top 3 in this race having worked home impressively from back in the field in her latest trial to run 2nd to Empire Of Japan. She’s well-bred and will have something to say in this event.
(12) Steel City Win
$1.95 (5 Units)
Race 2
(4) With Your Blessing was wide all the way last time when stepping up in class to bm78. He was far from disgraced finishing 3rd by less than half a length. Gate 1 will be far more to his liking this time where he can settle, do less work mid-race and work into the finish in the straight. e/w price on offer looks very appealing.
(1) Kalino is very short here. He’s probably the best in the race but after winning 1st up at $6 he’s come up very short in what looks a competitive race on paper. He’s definitely a big danger but too short for me to dive into.
(3) Garrison is 2nd favourite here after leading all the way in a bm72 last time. This will be a whole different ball game for the horse but he’s in winning form and handles all going so is some chance.
(4) With Your Blessing Each-Way
$7/$2 (1 Unit)
Race 7
(8) Spacewalk is a super talented racehorse. He returns after what was largely an unsuccessful Spring campaign finishing 2nd to Zoukerino, 4th to Sweet Ride and 2nd to Buenos Noches. That form is very strong but the horse needs to return to the winner’s stall and should be prepped up to do so 1st up here.
(1) Mariamia has run well 1st up previously and has trialled very nicely for Joseph Pride on 2 occasions leading up to her return on Saturday. She’s a great price and I’d expect her to be competitive in this event.
(4) Dehorned Unicorn has barely put a foot wrong this prep apart from a 2nd placing to I Am Me 2 starts ago. He’s clearly capable of running well in races of this calibre so he cannot be ruled out.
(8) Spacewalk Win
$2.50 (2 Units)
