Esports Betting Tips: Monday, May 2nd
Outsiders vs MnM Gaming
European League 2022 - Stage 1
As we head into the final day of European League 2022 - Stage 1, Heroic are already through to the Six Charlotte Major 2022, while PWNZ, Team Secret, and Natus Vincere are locked out and guaranteed to miss the Major. This leaves three more spots and six teams vying for them – including Outsiders and MnM Gaming
MnM Gaming are ranked seventh in league with a 3-1-0-4 record and 11 points, just one point short of Outsiders, who sit in sixth with a 4-0-0-4 record. With only one more match to go, MnM and Outsiders need to win this match if they wish to finish inside the top four.
PickleBet has the two teams priced at 1.85, meaning they should have an equal chance of winning. I would agree with that had I only checked the scoreboard, but Outsiders have been playing better recently. They lost against Secret (4-7) and BDS (1-7) a month ago, but Outsiders have since won against PWNZ (7-3), took five maps from Heroic (5-7) and humiliated Rogue (2-7).
MnM did not play too poorly lately, with a 7-4 win against Rogue and a narrow victory against Looking For Org. But they also lost against Natus Vincere (5-7) last week. If we look at the results, there isn’t much to separate MnM and Outsiders, but the eye test would confirm Outsiders are better prepared for this match.
Team BDS vs G2 Esports
European League 2022 - Stage 1
With a 5-0-1-2 record, G2 Esports currently sit in second place, but they can finish this stage anywhere from second to fifth – depending on how they do against Team BDS and how other games play out. Evidently, G2 will want to win this match, but so will Team BDS, who are 4-1-1-2 and can finish the first stage anywhere from second to sixth.
Team BDS and G2 last met in EUL 2021 Finals in December 2021, when BDS won 2-1. It was BDS’s second consecutive H2H victory and their second since July 2021, when G2 won 7-4. But even though BDS hold a better H2H record, they haven’t been too good at this stage.
Just last week, BDS struggled against PWNZ (7-5), and they needed 12 rounds to make it past Team Secret (7-5). G2 needed just as many against Secret (7-5), but they stomped PWNZ (7-2) and played a very close series with Heroic (5-7) last month.
This seems like a 50/50 match, so I would not side with Team BDS at 1.75. Take G2 Esports to defeat Team BDS and lock in a second-place finish!
Heroic vs Rogue
European League 2022 - Stage 1
With a 7-0-0-1 record and 21 points, Heroic are guaranteed to finish European League 2022 - Stage 1 first, meaning they can afford to lose against Rogue, and it wouldn’t change their placement. Things are much different for Rogue, who need to win to be safe from missing the Major.
As alluded to, Rogue will be highly motivated to win, whereas Heroic won’t, which should work in favor of Rogue. I still see no issue with betting sites pricing them as underdogs (2.35), but if we consider the fact that Rogue will go all out, chasing crucial points, betting on the underdogs becomes far more appealing.
But can Rogue actually win?
Heroic are the best team in the league, while Rogue are still decently strong. That said, Rogue have lost their last two games against MnM (4-7) and Outsiders (2-7), which is concerning.
We must also come to terms with the fact that Heroic are by far the best team in this region, and even if they start slacking a bit, they will be very tough to take down. Nevertheless, at 2.35, Rogue I’m ready to take a swing at Rogue. They might not have been too efficient lately, but Rogue are still one of Europe’s top teams.
