NFL 2024-25 Daily Fantasy Tips: Week 3
Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield - $12,780
Mayfield has been brilliant to start the season, ranking second in yards per attempt and passer rating, whilst sitting 10th in completion percentage over expected (CPOE), and third in fantasy points per drop back. This week, he gets a Denver Broncos defence that conceded the thirteenth-highest passer rating and the 10th-highest completion percentage over expectation. A nice early surprise in the NFC, expect the Bucs to go to 3-0 following this weekend.
Derek Carr - $12,570
Find me one person who saw this coming from the Saints and Derek Carr, and I’ll tell you you’ve found me a liar. Carr leads the NFL in several key statistical categories, including fantasy points per drop back, CPOE, passer rating, and yards per attempt. This week, he gets a great matchup against a Philly secondary that has looked awful to start the season, allowing the 7th-highest passing yards per game, the 10th-highest passer rating, and the 7th-highest yards per attempt. Carr should eat this week, and it’s a good idea to stack some Saints the way this offense is cooking.
Running Backs
Saquon Barkley - $14,140
Barkley continues to be the focal point of the offense in Philly, and whilst he wasn’t quite as effective in week 2 as he was in his enormous three touchdown debut for the Eagles, he was still heavily involved, and will no doubt continue to be. Expect him to carry the ball plenty in week 3, against a Sants defence that, so far, has defended both run and pass well. This week will be a whole new test though, as their previous opponents could only manage to throw Chuba Hubbard and Ezekial Elliott as a running back threat.
Derrick Henry - $12,220
The big man hasn’t exactly dominated in his two starts for the Ravens, but he has still been well above average. This week, he gets a nice spot to show he still has plenty in the tank, as the Ravens take on a Cowboys defence that has the lowest stuff rate in the NFL, whilst allowing the 7th-highest yards before contact per attempt, the fifth-highest gap yards per carry, and the highest success to gap runs, of which Henry runs at over 50%.
J.K. Dobbins - $10,510
Dobbins doesn’t get the easiest of matchups this week against the Steelers, but they have allowed the tenth-highest missed tackle rate, 14th-highest yards after contact per attempt, and the 13th-highest success rate to zone runs, which Dobbins runs at 63%. Dobbins has had an elite start to the season, ranking first in explosive run rate and missed tackles forced, whilst sitting 12th in yards after contact per attempt. Should be another solid week for the new Charger.
Wide Receivers
Nico Collins - $14,360
Collins has continued on from his breakout 2023/24 season, currently sitting as the WR4 in fantasy. This week, Collins and the Texans take on a Vikings secondary that can be passed on, although this is more of a play on just how well Collins has looked in the first two weeks. Collins has broken the 100-yard barrier in both games this season, and with another touchdown this week I’d expect a 25+ point score for the Texans main man.
Davante Adams - $13,860
Adams is a tremendous stack this week with Brock Bowers, as the Raiders take on a Carolina defence that has been just awful this season. Adams in particular should eat, as the Panthers defend in a single-high set at the second-highest level in the NFL, which is where Adams thrives. Against single-high, Adams commands a 48% target share, a 64.8% air-yard share, 4.09 yards per route run, and a 55% first-read share. Get him in this week and don’t think twice.
Rashid Shaheed - $10,660
Shaheed is a great stack with Derek Carr again this week, with the speedy wideout experiencing his best start to a season in his career. Shaheed is commanding an impressive 22.5% target share, a 43.9% air-yard share, a massive 5.28 yards per route run, and a 26.7% first-read share. This week, he gets a poor Eagles’ secondary that ranks among the worst at stopping wide receivers in fantasy. Expect another splash play, and hopefully a touchdown from Shaheed this week.
Tight Ends
Trey McBride - $10,950
There’s not a whole lot going on at the tight end position this week, and McBride seems the safest option if you have the cash. Whilst nothing flashy, McBride managed to haul in 6 passes for 67 yards last week, whilst also managing to recover a fumble by his own teammate for a touchdown. Detroit has been miserly against opposing tight ends, but McBride is relatively matchup proof and should be close to the top of tight ends scorers this week.
Brock Bowers - $9,930
Bowers has certainly hit the ground running, catching all 9 of his targets for 98 yards last week in the Raiders’ win over the Ravens. As mentioned above, Bowers is a great stack with Adams, as the Raiders come up against the Carolina Panthers who are one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen. Expect Bowers to once again be targeted heavily by Gardner Minshew, and if he can jag a touchdown, TE1 numbers are inbound.
D/ST
San Francisco 49ers - $6,540
The 49ers take on the Rams in an NFC West matchup that won’t be living up to the billing it should be. The Rams are decimated by injuries on the offense, and as good as Matthew Stafford is, even he can’t pull this rag-tag group high enough to scare me off playing some 49ers here. Whilst the defence hasn’t popped just yet, I expect it to show here, and like the 49ers as a D/ST in this slate.
Los Angeles Chargers - $6,460
The Chargers defence has looked stingy, and every bit the John Harbaugh defence we’ve come to expect. With five sacks, two interceptions, and only 13 points conceded in two weeks, the Steelers offense doesn’t scare me at all for the Chargers, and I expect another solid showing here. If they can manage to get Justin Fields to turn the ball over, this should be another solid 8-12 score for the D/ST.
