Adelaide 36ers vs Sydney Kings
Thursday 7:30pm AEDT, January 11th, Adelaide Entertainment Centre
Thursday night’s NBL24 battle should be an interesting one, with the 36ers hosting the Kings in Adelaide. They’ll be meeting for just the second time this season and their only other clash came way back in Round 2, with the Kings pulling away late to win at home by nine points (109-100). After three months, the 36ers finally get their chance at revenge and will have home court on their side on this occasion. Most recently, the 36ers toppled the ladder-leading United at home by four points, which snapped a two-game slid. Meanwhile, the Kings lost their latest outing against the Bullets at home by eight points. It’s fair to say that neither of these clubs are in great form as we enter Round 15, as they’ve combined for only four wins from their past 14 games. However, the Kings will start as the favourites and deservedly so considering their superior form across the season as a whole. Still, they’re no certainties to come away with a win on Thursday night, so I’ll be playing just the one unit on their spread here.

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Illawarra Hawks
Friday 7:30pm AEDT, January 12th, MyState Bank Arena
What is going on with the JackJumpers? They’ve been a hard team to get a read on this season, winning games that perhaps we thought they’d lose, but also losing games where they went in as the clear favourites. Last outing they lost to the Bullets by three points to make it five losses from their past seven games. Meanwhile, the Hawks are absolutely flying. They continue to tick over the win column under interim coach Justin Tatum and are now 6-2 under his tutelage. They absolutely destroyed the undermanned Phoenix by 38 points most recently, showing they also have a ruthless edge to them. The Hawks will be full of confidence heading to Tassie on Friday night and will fancy their chances of knocking over the shaky JackJumpers despite what the odds suggest. It’s a low bet game for me considering the JackJumpers inconsistency, but I do fancy the Hawks to cover the spread here.

Cairns Taipans vs Adelaide 36ers
Saturday 5:30pm AEDT, January 13th, Cairns Convention Centre
The 36ers will look to continue their resurgence when they travel to Cairns for Saturday night’s clash with the Taipans. The 36ers took care of a flat Kings outfit on Thursday night, defeating them by 13 points at home to make it back-to-back wins and three from their past five. Meanwhile, the Taipans have been struggling for consistency of late and will need to find some better form sooner rather than later if they’re to feature in the post-season. The Snakes were easily accounted for against the JackJumpers last outing in what was their third defeat from their past four games. It won’t get any easier for the Snakes on Friday night in my opinion, despite what the odds currently suggest. The 36ers are playing with a lot of fight and spirit at the moment and will fancy their chances of making it three wins on the spin. With that said, I’ll be backing the 36ers to cover the generous spread in this one.

Brisbane Bullets vs Illawarra Hawks
Sunday 2pm AEDT, January 14th, Nissan Arena
Two teams in excellent form will face off in the first of two games on Sunday, with the Bullets hosting the Hawks at Nissan Arena. The Bullets are on a three-game win streak after most recently defeating the JackJumpers by three points in a thriller. Elsewhere, the Hawks are on a four-game winning run and they too defeated the JackJumpers last time out in a nail-biter that went to double overtime. The Hawks have now won seven of their nine games under Justin Tatum’s guidance and sit fourth in the standings, which is quite amazing considering they won only three games last season and were on the bottom when Tatum took over this campaign. The Hawks are playing with immense confidence at the moment and although the Bullets are also playing well, I still have the visiting side in slightly better nick.

Sydney Kings vs New Zealand Breakers
Sunday 4pm AEDT, January 14th, Qudos Bank Arena
Well, if the alarm bells went already winning in the Sydney Kings camp, they certainly are now. The Kings were smoked by the bottom-of-the-ladder 36ers in their opening game of Round 15 to make it three losses in a row and eight from their last 11 games. The heat is well and truly on coach Mahmoud Abdelfattah and a loss on Sunday could be his last time in charge of this club. Meanwhile, the Breakers have had their momentum halted a touch with back-to-back losses after reeling off four wins in a row. Still, they’ve been highly competitive in both losses which were against the two best teams in the competition. I’m surprised to see the Breakers listed as the clear underdogs here and am more than happy to back them in to inflict further pain on the Kings.
