Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic
Amway Center, 6:40am AEDT
It’s been a fantastic start to the season from the Orlando Magic, who have somewhat flown under the radar in what has been an incredibly impressive start to the season. Those who were unaware of their level to start the season may have taken notice of their pre-Thanksgiving win over the Denver Nuggets, with some particularly impressive play down that stretch. The likes of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are ably supported by the likes of Cole Anthony, Jalen Sauggs and veteran presence from Joe Ingles has led to the Magic winning five in a row to sit with a 10-5 record. They host the Boston Celtics and will like their chances against another quality outfit. Boston haven’t quite looked as strong on the road, even with a couple of close wins of late, and they don’t quite look to be firing on all cylinders, still adjusting to new additions in Porzingis and Holiday. I have Boston as favourites, however the 5.5-point handicap for Orlando looks too generous to pass up for a small play.

Chicago Bulls at Toronto Raptors
Scotiabank Arena, 11:40am AEDT
I was keen to oppose the Chicago Bulls on Thursday against the Thunder, and nothing I saw in that outing lends me to changing my train of thought here. The Bulls still look to be absolutely lost at sea, with large fluctuations in their level within games, with their season record sitting at 5-11 and starting to slip away before December rolls around on the calendar. The consistency in level from LaVine, DeRozan and Vucevic is lacking in comparison to previous seasons, and when they form the bulk of the offensive firepower, it’s hard to make a strong case here. The Raptors have been a little inconsistent, however appear to be starting to adjust to life after Fred VanVleet. Their core is solid, and with Dennis Schroder looking more settled in his new uniform, they should have too much variety in Siakam, Barnes and Anunoby, as well as stronger bench depth, to handle the Bulls on their home court.

Sacramento Kings at Minnesota Timberwolves
Target Center, 12:10pm AEDT
I was keen to back in the Timberwolves against the Joel Embiid-less 76ers on Thursday, and I am keen to back them in again today against the Kings. The lack of genuine rim protection for the Kings is going to be something of a problem here, as was the case late in their match-up with the Pelicans the other day. Minnesota has won 10 of their last 11, with their only loss coming against the Suns, and as I mentioned on Thursday, they seem to be a far more cohesive unit this season, and one that ticks all the major boxes in terms of a team you want to support early in the season. The Kings have lost 3, then won 6, then lost 2 in their last 11 games, and although Fox is back from injury, too much is being left to himself, Sabonis and Huerter on the offensive end. The Timberwolves look to be the more well-rounded team, at -4 points looks to be great value.
