Gold Coast hosts a 10-race card on Saturday with the Military Rose Plate and the 2YO & 3YO Jewel. Race 1 starts at 12:38pm (AEDT), while the last concluding at 6:08pm. The rail is in the TRUE position throughout – selections are for a SOFT track with showers expected across the next two days – watch and monitor for any pattern if possible.

Gold Coast Racing Tips: Saturday, March 9th 2024
Race 2: Martin Collins Australia Hcp Class 6 1700m- 1:13pm (AEDT)
(4) Wairere Falls $6.00/$2.30: looks an ideal set-up for him today. He arrives fourth-up this prep so fitness should be peaking and he gets a key jockey change from an apprentice to Jimmy Orman. He produced a slashing finale two-back over 1600m on rain affected ground when running second to ANYTHINK GOES (had run of the race) after giving that runner a massive head start. He then went to 1615m LS and was shuffled back in the run before being held-up on the corner (came home in 11.60 and was 4.9L above benchmark / was very good). He draws a nice gate with some speed inside him so I have him mapped about 6th-8th one off the fence which historically is a good place to be at the Gold Coast with the rail true. Comes down 3kgs at the weights, senior rider up, handles a soft track, and should be able run-on. Nice e/w bet.
(7) Granite Prince $5.00: Tipped this fella last start, but he failed to failed to run on. Form prior is good enough. Worth thought again at an each way price here.
(4) Wairere Falls E/W
$6/$2.30 (1 Unit)
Race 6: 90.0 Sea FM With Bronte & Lakey The Gold Jewel 1400m - 3:33pm (AEDT)
(8) Viminele $3.80: I concede he has a history of being poorly away from the gates but I think he’s flying this time in and is going better than the race book suggests. He was given no hope second-up in the $1m race over 1300m here behind BOOM TORQUE when he was snagged back to last from a wide gate and then was hopelessly held-up for portions of the straight (forgive). He went back to 1200m third-up and missed the start before darting back to the inside and narrowly missing HEROIC MISS (big gaps to the rest). He jumped better two-back over 1350m at Doomben on a soft track before weaving a passage through the field to win well (beat CORFE CASTLE who’s also here and HELLAVADANCER who won last week). He clashed with BOOM TORQUE again LS and was a victim of the barrier draw (forced back to last while BOOM TORQUE had run of the race). He was the best of the closers (reeled off the second best 4-200m split of the meeting 10.60 and was 11.56 home) even after racing tight and copping a big check down the straight. I think he can tag in behind BOOM TORQUE today and have him tow him into the race, he is proven on soft tracks, and he meets BOOM TORQUE 6.5kgs better at the weights. I think he can turn the tables.
(3) Boom Torque $2.60: Top class horse who is always worth thought. Won a nice race last start and if things go right he will be in it again. One for the exotics for sure.
(8) Viminele
$3.80 (2 Units)
Race 7: Tab Militray Rose Plate 1100m - 4:08pm (AEDT)
(1) Mabel $11/$2.60: best roughie of the day! It was a sound return over 1000m first-up when she finished 1.5L behind BRUDENELL et al when they were some 3.7L above class average (looked like she needed the run). She was a flashing light LS over 1100m and it was backed up on the clock. She’s come home in 33.90 last 600m and produced the third best 4-200m split / tenth best L200m split of the day (10.80, 11.36). She went by DERRY GROVE and was close up to RAINBIEL, RED CARD, and OMNI MAN. She draws an ideal gate to settle midfield off the fence with what looks to be a hot tempo on paper. I think CHINNY BOOM could get taken on by BLACK ON BEAUTY and STAR OF CHAOS who like to roll forward which could leave her vulnerable late. She goes best with the sting out of the track, arrives third-up and peaking, and Ashley Morgan has gone up to ride her. Looks overs.
(3) Chinny Boom $1.80: 4yo Mare who is super short and been well backed early on, but she may be vulnerable with the hot tempo. Too short for me, but obviously a top chance.
(1) Mabel E/W
