Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, February 22nd 2025

Race 1: HKJC World Pool Handicap - 12:15pm (AEDT)

(5) Samangu could lead this field from barrier 4 and she has won 3 from 4 starts on Good tracks. She goes well fresh and has jumped out well in between runs. At Flemington last start, she led and just got caught late and in a race where there isn’t too much early speed, she will hopefully get cheap sectionals.

(1) Miss Aria will get back and will give them 3 or 4L on the turn but she is in an easier race here compared to the watch she has been racing in.

(3) Pondalowie we were on last start and she ran on fairly for fourth. She took a while to wind up that day and she is another that will give Samangu lengths on the turn. She wouldn’t have been ready to fire first up and will be here but will she get too far back?

(5) Samangu WIN

$4.40 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Lamaro’s Futurity Stakes GROUP 1 - 3:40pm (AEDT)

(1) Mr Brightside has drawn wide in 11 but will try and get across and sit about 4th on the outside. Another Will beat MrB last start but second up MrB will be fitter here and he loves Caulfield. He has beaten most of these horses before and he was many lengths in front of third placing last start. He has won 5 times when second up previously. His last Group 1 win was the Cantala where he sat 4th and won over 1600m. Similar race shape here and is the crowd favourite.

(4) Tom Kitten has been running better now that he has matured and is a good Place bet. He will get back though and will be flashing home late.

(10) Private Life will go forward from barrier 10 and be in it for a long way. He raced at Caulfield last start (4th) and Damien Lane sticks with him.

(1) Mr Brightide WIN

$2.00 (4 Units)

Race 9: Sportsbet Oakleigh Plate - 4:55pm (AEDT)

(7) Jimmystar has drawn wide in 14 but will get back anyway. The pace is always on in the Oakleigh Plate and that will suit Jimmy who races better when they go hard up front. He has won 4 from 8 races on Dry tracks and his Caulfield form is very good with Jimmy already winning on the course on three occasions. He is resuming from a spell and he has only been beaten once when doing so. Hard race but he is worth an each-way play with Ethan Brown riding for the first time.

(10) Sghirripa has drawn well in three and will get cover in the run. He loves the 1100m and gets Michael Dee on for the first time. Hasn’t won in over a year and will start double figures.

(1) I Am Me is a Good track specialist and goes well first up. Her NSW form before the spell was just fair but she is better fresh. Nash Rawiller has won on top before and I am Me trialed well enough on a non-preferred Soft track on February 3 at Cranbourne.

(7) Jimmystar Each-Way

$10/$3.00 (1 Unit)
