NBL24 Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips
Brisbane Bullets vs Tasmania JackJumpers
Wednesday 7:30pm AEDT, January 10th, Nissan Arena
Entering Round 15 on a two-game win streak are the Brisbane Bullets. They caused a big upset in the final game last weekend, defeating the Kings on the road by eight points. Their apparent return to form has resulted in them rising into sixth spot in the standing, although a loss on Thursday night could see them drop to as low as ninth.
It’s been a season of streaks so far for the Bullets – when they’ve won they’ve come in bunches, but when they’ve lost they’ve also come in bunches. Through 14 rounds their streaks have been as follows: W2, L4, W3, L3, W2, L4, W2.
The form of star guard Nathan Sobey has fluctuated almost simultaneously with the Bullets record, which shows just how important he is to their success. He comes into Round 15 having scored 62 points across his last two games, both of which resulted in wins.
Also finding a win last outing were the Tasmania JackJumpers. They were far too strong for the Taipans, taking care of business on their home deck by 17 points and pouring in 103 points in the process, which was their highest total since scoring 105 against the Kings in Round 4.
The JackJumpers went into Round 14 having lost two in a row and four of their last five games, so coming away with a dominant win would be a big relief for the organisation. Still, they remain in third spot and are a very real chance of finishing in the top two with a strong run home.
Another positive for the JackJumpers last weekend was the return to form of Milton Doyle. He was averaging just 12 points per contest across his last five games heading in, but poured in 31 against the Snakes which was only a couple of points short of a career-high.
Match prediction: These clubs have met twice this season and the home team has won on both occasion, which has the series tied at one win apiece. Most recently, the JackJumpers came away with a two-point win at the Silverdome on November 4th.
Neither team has been consistent in NBL24, but the JackJumpers clearly have the greater upside and are the deserving favourites in their third clash. With Doyle back in form and the JackJumpers needing wins to achieve a top two finish, I expect them to come out on top here.
