NBL24 Round 17 Preview & Betting Tips
New Zealand Breakers vs Tasmania JackJumpers
Friday 5:30pm AEDT, January 26th, Eventfinda Stadium
An easy kill in Round 16 against the undermanned Phoenix came at exactly the right time for the New Zealand Breakers. They went into that clash on a three-game losing streak and a fourth straight loss would’ve just about put an end to their finals push. Instead, the Breakers remain only 1.5 games outside the top six and with a decent schedule to come.
Anthony Lamb continues to dominate for the Breakers and is coming off 31-point performance against the Phoenix where he hit 11/14 of his field goals. Lamb has now had 22+ points in five of his last eight games, which is the second most in the league over that span and behind only Bryce Cotton.
Similarly, the Tasmania JackJumpers put an end to their two-game losing streak with an emphatic last star win against United. After a slow start in the opening couple of minutes, the JackJumpers were able to flick the switch and would go onto lead at the end of each quarter.
Another big positive for the JackJumpers in their recent outing was the performance of Jordon Crawford. The import point guard was severely struggling with his shot in the five games prior, but was able to explode with 25 points on 4/6 shooting from deep against the ladder-leaders.
Match prediction: This is a huge game for both clubs and you can expect the intensity to be high right from the tip as a result. Friday night’s clash will be fourth and final meeting of the regular season, with the Breakers currently leading the season series 2-1. The Breakers also won their most recent battle, which was a little over three weeks ago in Tasmania.
Neither team would be happy with their form in the leadup to this game, although the Breakers have been the better side over the past month. Now at near full health, I expect the Breakers to finish the season strongly and begin their push for a finals berth with a strong win on Friday night.
