BBL13 Thunder vs Scorchers Betting Tips
Sydney Showgrounds Stadium, Monday 8th January, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Thunder
It’s do or die time for the Thunder, who sit in 2nd last place on the BBL13 table with a 1-4-1 record through their six games so far. They have a tough stretch of games to come as well, with fixtures against two of the top teams in the competition in the Scorchers and Sixers over the next week.
They were comfortably beaten by the Hobart Hurricanes in their last game on New Years Day, as the Canes chased down their 150 run total just three wickets down with 11 balls to spare. Daniel Sams has been the standout performer for the Thunder so far this season, leading the wicket takers table with 11 as well as contributing valuable lower order runs.
Thunder Predicted XI: Cameron Bancroft, Alex Hales, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Ollie Davies, Alex Ross, Daniel Sams, Nathan McAndrew, Chris Green, Gurinder Sandhu, Tanveer Sangha
Scorchers
The Scorchers suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night as they went down to the Adelaide Strikers in pretty convincing fashion. Batting first, the Scorchers lost early wickets but fought back to post a semi-respectable score of 153/7.
That proved to be at least 30-40 runs short, however, as they Strikers chased the total down with four overs to spare on the back of blistering knocks from Matt Short and Chris Lynn. I don’t think the Scorchers will be too concerned with that loss, and should back themselves to bounce back to some form here, despite being on the road once again.
Scorchers Predicted XI: Zak Crawley, Sam Whiteman, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Laurie Evans, Cooper Connolly, Ashton Agar, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye
Betting Tips
Like the Scorchers to bounce back after a loss here. Their depth is just too good to allow back to back poor performances and even if one of their talented pacemen needs a rest during this road trip, they have plenty of cover in the likes of Matt Kelly or Hamish McKenzie to add other bowling options.
The Scorchers were comfortable winners over the Thunder when they faced off at the Showgrounds Stadium last season, chasing a meagre total of 111 in just 12.5 overs one wicket down. Back them to have another win here over a struggling Thunder side.
