BBL13 Stars vs Hurricanes Betting Tips
MCG, Monday 15th January, 7.15pm
Stars
The Stars had a golden opportunity to stamp their ticket into the BBL13 finals on Saturday night as they faced the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium. However, they were unable to get the job done, going down by six wickets in a pretty lacklustre performance.
Batting first, the Stars could only muster 137/8 as multiple top order batsmen in Tom Rogers, Beau Webster and Glenn Maxwell all got starts but failed to capitalize. Following up, the Stars weren’t ever really in the competition with the ball, as Shaun Marsh took the game away from them in the opening overs.
At the time of writing, the Stars can still force their way into the finals, but they’ll need to win and rely on the Strikers losing on Sunday night to the Sydney Thunder.
Stars Predicted XI: Tom Rogers, Dan Lawrence, Beau Webster, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Peter Handscomb, Imad Wasim, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Joel Paris, Scott Boland
Hurricanes
A loss in their last game to the Strikers eliminated the Hurricanes from finals contention, meaning they’ll be playing for pride alone when they travel to the MCG on Monday night. It’s been an extremely inconsistent season for the Canes, who have had some stellar performances but also looked like arguably the worst team in the league at times.
Ben McDermott was the standout with the bat once again for the Canes this year, moving into the top 10 of the all time BBL leading runscorers with 211 runs at an average of 42.2. Nathan Ellis has clearly been the standout with the ball with 10 wickets at a decent economy rate.
Hurricanes Predicted XI: Ben McDermott, Caleb Jewell, Mac Wright, Sam Heazlett, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Chris Jordan, Patrick Dooley, Nathan Ellis, Billy Stanlake
Betting Tips
I think the Stars will get the job done at the MCG. By game time, they well may know the fate of their season and the game might not mean a lot to them, however, the Canes know that there is nothing on the line before the even get on the plane so I think their mindset might not be quite right here.
The Canes will also probably opt to rest some key players in Matthew Wade and Riley Meredith given both have had some injury concerns of late. Chris Jordan could also opt out of the BBL early to head to play for the Gulf Giants in the International League T20.
Back the Stars to win this one.

Beau Webster has been one of the standout performers for the Stars this year batting at No.3. He has scored 207 runs at an average of 34.5 and has surpassed 20 runs in four of his seven knocks this season.
Like the value of Billy Stanlake to take 1+ wicket coming into this Canes side for just his 2nd game this season. Should get a full compliment of four overs and has taken at least one wicket in eight of his last 11 T20 matches.
Beau Webster 20+ Runs
Billy Stanlake 1+ Wicket
