Where to Attack?
It is still quite early in the season to be looking at 2025 trends but looking back to last year Collingwood were giving up points across a number of positions. They were above average for points conceded in the midfield and up forward, while giving up the second highest fantasy average in the league to the designated kicker during the last 10 games of the season.
The Western Bulldogs were quite stingy across the ground especially through the midfield. The best area to target is up forward where they defenders have trouble keeping players in check.
Game Script – Bulldogs back stacks, Collingwood forwards
VALUE PLAYS
Reef McInnes ($6,000) / Buku Khamis ($6,200)
Two near minimum priced backs for either side look for a solid option to find value on this single game slate. My lean would be towards whichever team you are stacking up backs on in your build. McInnes posted 54 points last week, which would make for a solid value play in this single game, while Khamis was able to top the 50 point mark on a number of occasions last year.
Ned Long ($8,980) had a ripping game last week as he was unleashed for a full game in the midfield going head-to-head with the oppositions big bull in Horne-Francis. Long attended 22 centre bounces and racked up 90 fantasy points. Just be a little buyer beware on him in this contest as Jordan De Goey returns to the lineup and Scott Pendlebury will likely not be the sub again this week.
MID PRICED PLAYS
Harry Perryman ($11,760) had an absolute howler from a fantasy perspective last week after posting a solid 90 points in Round 1. His role hasn’t changed significantly attending 13 centre bounces, so I will take advantage of the lower price this round and trust the role will give him solid scoring potential.
Steele Sidebottom ($12,690) is another Collingwood player who received substantial midfield time last week en route to 110 fantasy points. He attended over 20 centre bounces and he must be in consideration for rostering again this week. Keep an eye on the sub selection to help determine who is likely to be playing on the inside for the Magpies, as they appear to be rotating this heavily through the early part of the season.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Darcy Cameron ($15,170) as the number one ruckman will be a play again this week. He showed his upside in Opening Round when he put up a monster 136 points. Tim English got monstered last week and Cameron is in a similar mould to Xerri, I expect him to dominate the ruck contests.
