AFL Daily Fantasy Tips 2025: Round 2 Sunday

March 22nd 2025, 10:33am, By: Jesse Penfold

AFL Fantasy Tips

Another fun three game Sunday slate is upon us for Round 2 of the 2025 AFL Premiership season. The day gets underway with what will likely be the game stack of the day with the reigning premiers Brisbane hosting a side that will go close to the wooden spoon, the West Coast Eagles. Next up we get what is always an exciting rival game as North Melbourne and Melbourne square off at the MCG, before heading out west to see Frematnle try to recover after last weeks thrashing as they play host to Sydney at Optus Stadium.

Draftstars have us covered for daily fantasy contests with a massive $60,000 main across the three game slate. In addition, there are a variety of alternate contests:

AFL $60,000+ Sunday

AFL $5,000+ Sunday High Roller ($150 Entry)

AFL $3,000+ Sunday Mini ($2 Entry)

The AFL Star contest is back again for 2025 and Draftstars are once again offering the biggest prize pool in Australian DFS history with a $1 million guaranteed final with $250,000 top prize! There are qualifiers and satellites running for every AFL match.

Weather

Brisbane – 28 degrees high chance of showers

Perth – 33 degrees and sunny

Be wary in the Brisbane game as there could be up to 10mm of rain, although the betting markets do not appear concerned at this stage as they still have a high total. I would certainly keep an eye on the weather as the first bounce approaches though.

Perth looks very hot but no issues weather wise for fantasy scoring and Melbourne is not a concern as being at Marvel they will just close the roof as needed.

Where to Attack?

Plenty of juicy targets on this slate going off 2024 performances. As noted above Brisbane are such heavy favourites against West Coast that stacking their side will be most likely the most popular strategy on the slate. West Coast were a great team to target in 2024 and their first game last week didn’t do anything to indicate that would change in any way. They gave up one of the highest scores to inside midfielders last season and last week the Gold Coast midfielders went crazy including our tip of the day from last Sunday’s slate, Matt Rowell. We can also stack up Brisbane forwards in this matchup as West Coast back line has been weakened with the loss of Tom Barrass and the Lions are expected to pile on the scoring.

I also like stacking up the North Melbourne backs against Melbourne. The Demons have consistently got the extra man behind the ball in recent years and that has led to high scoring opposition back lines. North still like to build up through their backs and that leaves an obvious position target to roster.

Game Script – Brisbane midfielders and forwards, North Melbourne backs

VALUE PLAYS

Levi Ashcroft ($9,870) just looks a total lock on this slate. We all know, or should know, about his fantasy prowess prior to being drafted and now he is coming off a 25 disposal debut where he racked up 84 fantasy points in what was a very tough grand final rematch. The only real question mark is his role given he didn’t attend any centre bounces but that did not look to slow this kid at all. His price has risen a touch after that game, but this week the Lions get close to the best matchup in the league against West Coast.

Eric Hipwood ($8,020) will have every opportunity to post a ceiling score and return all sorts of value on this slate. He should be their number one target up forward, and as mentioned above the Eagles have been conceding scores to tall forwards for a number of years and now they are down one of their best key backs in recent years with Tom Barrass moving to Hawthorn.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Tom Powell ($12,900) is looking to be one of the fantasy revelations for 2025. He has permanently moved to the midfield for North and has been absolutely racking up fantasy scores all preseason before kicking off round one with a massive 121 fantasy points. His price is still way too cheap for how he is playing right now he will be an auto play for me until he gets into the $14k range.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Oscar McInerney ($13,510) has arguably the best matchup for a ruck in the league right now against West Coast. The Eagles have dropped Matt Flynn and will be going with the undersized Bailey Williams, which means McInerney will likely start the game with a guaranteed 50+ hit outs. We saw what Jarrod Witts did to the Eagles last week (who we tipped) and the big Oscar is in a very similar mould of player.

Josh Dunkley ($16,770) is the head of this game stack fresh off a massive 130 point game last week. There isn’t much to say as we all know about Dunkley’s fantasy history and he is drawing one of the best matchups in the league. He will likely put some work into Harley Reid and if you are looking for a bit of savings it is easy to slide down the Lachie Neale who we can expect to have a bounce back game.
