August 10th 2024, 2:27am, By: Jesse Penfold

AFL Fantasy Tips

Super Saturday is back for Round 22 for the 2024 AFL Premiership Season and this week we get our fan favourite mega five game slate. A top four clash will get the day underway as Brisbane host the GWS Giants at the Gabba. Meanwhile, at the other end of the ladder there will be draft positions on the line as North Melbourne and West Coast play down at Blundstone Arena. Fremantle will play Geelong out West during the afternoon in another game with huge finals implications, before we get to the night time between Essendon and Gold Coast at Marvel and Melbourne and Port Adelaide e at the MCG. Finals are just three rounds away and there are several key games this weekend to help shape that, and where there isn’t well… we still play daily fantasy anyway.

Draftstars continue to offer massive prize pools with the Saturday main contest worth $50,000 along with their usual variety of alternate contests:

  • AFL $50,000+ Saturday
  • AFL $5,000+ Saturday High Roller ($150 Entry)
  • AFL $3,000+ Saturday Mini ($2 Entry)

The AFL Star contest is back for 2024 and Draftstars are offering the biggest prize pool in Australian DFS history with a $1 million guaranteed final with $250,000 top prize! There are qualifiers and satellites running for every AFL match, while there will also be a sprinkling of qualifiers across other sports such as NRL and NBA.

Where to Attack?

There are several top options to attack as usual on a five game slate. The standout is West Coast who are giving up the most points in the league to key forwards and inside midfielders over the last 10 games. North Melbourne have been in solid form recently and while the Eagles can play teams tough, they have showed little to no ability away from home and have historically always struggled in Tasmania.

Fremantle at home should be a good stack option, especially through the midfield, as they face Geelong who have given up the second most points to inside mids over the last 10 games.

Meanwhile in the night games look to target Port Adelaide backs as the Demons have given up the most points in the league to designated kickers.

Game Script – North Melbourne forwards and inside midfielders, Port Adelaide backs

VALUE PLAYS

Nick Larkey ($9,780) is the first point of call when North have an elite matchup for their forwards. We saw him in action last week against Richmond where he posted an 86 point game. The Tigers have had similar issues to West Coast this year and as we noted at the top the Eagles are the best matchup in the league for tall forwards. Last time Larkey played West Coast this season he posted his season high of 107 fantasy points, so the upside is huge at this price point.

Lachlan Keefe ($6,000) comes in to replace ruckman Kieren Briggs. At the minimum price with a likely role in the ruck for most of the game this is a lock and load play on this slate and you can expect it to be one of the higher owned plays for the day.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Tom Powell ($12,130) is right back into the form he was displaying earlier in the season over the last two weeks. He has posted back to back games of 116 and 122, with his role through the middle staying relatively similar but going to play across the half back line when he isn’t in the midfield. North dropped two players who had been playing across half back and the wing this week so we wouldn’t expect Powell’s role to change much this week and he has arguably the best matchup in the league against West Coast.

Sean Darcy ($12,860) will draw the best matchup in the league for rucks this season against Geelong. They have conceded a ridiculous 15 points per game above the league average over the last 10 games and while Darcy has been struggling, this is too much of a trend to ignore, especially given his upside at this price point.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Andrew Brayshaw ($15,840) has been in top form the past seven games with just two matches under 100 points and high scores of 146, 136 and 120 through the period. Getting him at under $16k feels like a steal with that ceiling in play and drawing the second best matchup in the league for inside midfielders against Geelong.

Luke Davies-Uniacke ($15,800) had arguably the best game of his career last week with 33 touches and three goals against Richmond. He will back this up with the best matchup currently in the league for his position against West Cost and will be playing at the friendly confines of Blundstone arena where North have typically been more successful.
