Canberra - Partly cloudy, 14 degrees
Melbourne - Partly cloudy, 15 degrees
No issues with the weather in some of the coller parts of our nation, so hopefully we’re over the worst of the Winter chill!
Where to Attack?
As we mention every week, the Saints are the team to attack for opposition defenders. Brisbane have been racking up enormous fantasy numbers in recent weeks, so their defenders and mids will be popular options.
Both the Dockers and Hawks have been conceding points in the ruck this season, and while the Bombers don’t have a dominant fantasy ruckman, the Giants have big Kieran Briggs who might be in play.
Outside of that, there aren’t a lot of trends to exploit, and they are three relatively close matches, so there’s a number of different ways you can go with your approach to your Draftstars lineups!
Game script: GWS ruck, Brisbane defenders + mids
VALUE PLAYS
Harrison Jones ($7,970) has been improving this season and I’ve liked his switch up to the wing to get more involved and be that hit-up player out of defence. Has a 6-game average of 65.7 and if he can clunk a few marks on the wings of the G then he should hit value.
Mitch Owens ($8,850) has had a really poor season and probably should’ve been dropped to the VFL, but he’s responded over the last two weeks with scores of 88 and 83, and that’s the number we’re looking for again here. Not the best matchup against the tough Lions, but Owens is a quality player, so if he can get on the end of a few marks and get his confidence up then I expect him to go well.
MID PRICED PLAYS
Conor Nash ($10,820) is an interesting option in the ruck if you don’t like the look of the other options. Nash does a lot of body work in the packs for the Hawks which gets him plenty of tackles and scrappy kicks and can lead to some handy scoring. Has scored 82 and 112 in the past two weeks which would be ideal at this price tag.
Cam Rayner ($11,190) has found a rare spark of form in recent weeks to perhaps finally realise his full potential. He’s teased us for years, but scores of 107, 103 and 85 in the last 3 weeks show a consistency and a maturity that we’ve been waiting for. Should get plenty of opportunity again against the Saints.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Darcy Parish ($13,250) looks a good price today if you’re willing to trust his history. He shook off some rust last week, and perhaps is ready to fire again, second game back from injury. We easily forget what a fantasy pig he is/was, and he scored a 147 earlier this year before his injury. If he can get going, then the price is too cheap.
Dayne Zorko ($17,240) is a super premium price but has the biggest ceiling of anyone on this slate. Has the gun role as the half-back distributor for the Lions with the best match up in the league against the leaky Saints. Has scored 139 and 131 in the last two weeks and had a ridiculous 184 earlier on this season. Zorko also scored 125 against the Saints a few months ago. If you can afford him, he looks ripe for another slate-breaking score.
