PGA Tour Bermuda Championship Betting Tips
Thursday 27th - Sunday 30th October
Port Royal Golf Course, Bermuda
The Field
To say this is a field lacking star power would be a bit of an understatement. While many players opt to take the trip to Bermuda as a bit of an in season holiday, the top tier players usually just opt for a holiday all-together.
No stars in this field means the betting market is as wide open as we’ve seen a PGA Tour event in some time. On the top few lines in the markets include the likes of Denny McCarthy, Thomas Detry, Seamus Power, Mark Hubbard and Nick Hardy.
The Course
Port Royal Golf Course
Par 71, 6,828 Yards
While the pros teeing it up this week will certainly be trying their hardest to win, there’s no doubt that the trip to the Bermuda Championship is also a great chance for a little getaway in what is one of the most picturesque spots on the planet.
The Port Royal course certainly isn’t the longest on the PGA Tour circuit but with unpredictable weather, elevation changes and heavy seaside winds, it requires players to be accurate from tee-to-green rather than long.
Betting Tips
Opting for a bit of a different approach this week than the standard ‘2 big dogs and 2 smokeys’ system we have been running lately. Since the betting is so open here I and we don’t really fancy anyone for a win bet, I’ll just be giving three ‘Top X Finish’ bets.
Russel Knox ($36 at bet365)
The first player I like the look of this week is Ryan Armour. The 37 year old Scott is currently ranked No.196 in the world but he has some good pedigree at Port Royal which I’m keen to invest in this week. In his three trips to Bermuda he has racked up finishes of T11, T16 and T11. Back him to finish in the top 30 again this weekend for some good value.
Russel Knox Top 30 ($2.05) 3 Units
Brian Gay ($126 at bet365)
Always a bit of a risky play when you take a Champions Tour member in a PGA Tour event, but at least it is Gay’s first year of eligibility this season as a 50 year old. The 5-time PGA Tour winner has a great record in Bermuda, finishing T3, 1st and T12 in his three trips there and has been really solid on the Champions Tour over the last few weeks. Great value for a sneaky top 40 finish here.
Brian Gay Top 40 Finish ($2.50 at bet365) 1.5 Units
Byeong-Hun An ($46 at b365)
not picking this guy for any other reason than simply the fact I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from him of late. The No.221 ranked golfer in the world has made 3/4 cuts on the PGA Tour this season including an impressive T4 at the Fortinet Championship last month. Another one with good value for a Top 30.
Byeong-Hun An Top 30 ($2.30 at bet365) 1.5 Units
Bonus LIV Golf Tips
LIV Golf action continues this weekend as we head to Trump National Golf Course in Miami for the team event kicking off on Friday. Not too much to discuss here, it’s a bit of a pick in the dark but I like the look of the 4 Aces here. They have been the dominant team all season, winning four of the seven events so far and have the two best players in the field in Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith.
