Another decent week for us in our NFL tips as we hit on 2/4 bets in Week 8. We’ll look to improve on that as we take a look at some of the key games in Week 9 of the NFL season and offer our betting tips here.
NFL Week 9 Betting Tips
Buffalo Bills at New York Jets (Friday 11.25am AEDT)
It’s a big AFC East clash to kick off the week with the Jets and Bills facing off Friday morning. The Bills secured a great home win over the Raiders on the weekend to move to 5-2 and can join the Patriots at the top of the division with a win this weekend.
The Jets slipped to the bottom of the AFC East after they lost a close contest against the Falcons in Week 8. The Jets have arguably already won more games than most were picking them to at the start of the year so any improvement on their current form will be a massive win going forward. QB Josh McCown has been playing as good as any 38-year-old could be expected to play but there’s no denying it’s a rebuild year for the Jets.
The Bills can put some serious pressure on the Patriots with a win here, something that hasn’t really been done in the last decade. They are away from home but if they have any aspirations of winning the AFC East they can’t let this one slip.
TIP: Buffalo Bills -3 - $1.83 at Sportsbet
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers (Monday 5am AEDT)
After three losses in a row to AFC East teams, the Falcons got back on the winners list on the weekend by defeating the New York Jets to move to 4-3 in a tight NFC South division. A win over the Panthers here will see them leapfrog Carolina into second place in the division.
The Panthers defence was great against the Buccaneers on the weekend, holding them to just three points in the win. They’ll look to continue that defensive pressure as they go up against the Falcons, who while having one of the best offences on paper, have struggled to fire over the past month.
The Falcons scored just 17, 17 and 7 points in their three games prior to the win over the Jets in Week 8 and while the game against New York might have played them back into some form, Carolina boast a much better defence and in Charlotte where the Panthers usually play pretty well we have to side with them here.
TIP: Carolina Panthers to win - $1.85 at Ladbrokes
Kansas City Chiefs at Dallas Cowboys (Monday 8.25am AEDT)
The Chiefs travel to Dallas for a big matchup Monday morning. After two losses in a row to the Steelers and the Raiders, KC got back on the winners list on the weekend with a great performance over the strong defence of the Broncos. Alex Smith continued to be solid with 202 yards and a TD in one of his quieter performances of the season.
The Cowboys have had two massive performances in their last two games, putting up 40 points in a win against the 49ers followed by a 33-point game against the Redskins. Ezekiel Elliot has been massive in both games, scoring a combined 4 TD’s and rushing for almost 300 yards.
Should be a really interesting game here against two offences that are firing on all cylinders. The Cowboys boast the best offensive line in the league and have been taking full advantage of some lacklustre defences in the past two weeks. We’ll have to check the line first which has yet to be released but we like the over in this match.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (Tuesday 12.30pm AEDT)
What would have been a blockbuster NFC North matchup a few weeks ago has likely turned into a bit of a barnburner now with the season ending injury to Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. The Packers lost their first game without Rodgers in Week 7 as they went down 26-17 to the Saints.
After a hot start to the season, the Lions have lost their last three games but will be looking for a win here with an easy stretch against the Packers, Browns and Bears in the next three weeks. Their offence has still been quite good in the losses, putting up 67 points in the three games.
Can’t see how the Lions have opened as just 2.5 point favourites at home against a Rodgers-less Packers team here. Should have way too much firepower for Green Bay to keep up.
TIP: Detroit Lions -2.5 - $1.87 at Ladbrokes
