We went 2-2 in last week’s NFL betting tips including a great $2.79 win on Seattle to beat the league leading Philadelphia Eagles. We’ll look to carry on our decent form here as we preview some of the key games of Week 14 in the NFL.
NFL Week 14 Betting Tips
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (Friday 12.25pm AEDT)
Great NFC South matchup to open the round on Friday night as the Falcons and Saints go at it in a game that will likely have playoff connotations for both teams. The Saints currently sit at 9-3 on the season so far, and hold down 1st place in the division by just one game over the charging Carolina Panthers. The Falcons are just one game further adrift. So a win here could see them draw level with the Panthers.
New Orleans start as slight favourites for the match, however, Atlanta have been rolling over the past few weeks despite a loss to Minnesota on the weekend. They beat Dallas, Seattle and Tampa Bay in the three weeks prior to the loss as their offence has really started to click after their slow start.
One thing that both of these teams are above average at is scoring. They average over 50 points combined per game and both have a multitude of weapons on offence. Three of the last four matchups between the two teams have resulted in over 52 points scored and defence will likely be an afterthought in this one. We like the over on total points.
TIP: Total points over 52.5 - $1.91 at Sportsbet
Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams (Monday 8.25am AEDT)
Probably the game of the round here as the 10-2 Eagles travel to LA to take on the 9-3 rams. This game has massive implications on who will finish with the best record in the NFC Conference, with the teams currently sitting second and third behind Minnesota respectively.
The game pits the two highest scoring teams in the league against one another, with both the Eagles and the Rams averaging a whopping 30.1 points per game so far this season. The Eagles suffered an upset defeat at the hands of the Seahawks last weekend and will get another tough road game here.
The Eagles are the best team in the league against the spread this season with a 9-3-0 record, but after their tough road loss last week, they predictably start as 2 point underdogs here. They looked a bit lacklustre on offence against the Seahawks while the Rams blew out the Cardinals away from home. We like form to carry into this one and the Rams to hold firm at home.
TIP: LA Rams -2 - $1.91 at Ladbrokes
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants (Monday 5am AEDT)
After a three game stretch of absolutely horrot performances, the Cowboys bounced back in a big way on the weekend, defeating the Redskins at home by 24 points. They’ll be on the road this weekend as they take on another NFC East rival in the New York Giants.
The Giants have had a year to forget and currently sit last in the NFC with a 2-10 record. They have lost their last two games and will predictably start as heavy home underdogs here after the Cowboys resurgence last weekend. Dallas running back Alfred Morris stepped up in the absence of Ezekiel Elliot to run for 127 yards and a TD on 27 carries.
Dallas’ woes in the three weeks prior to the win mean they are just 4 point favourites for this matchup, which is one of the lower head starts that they have given away all year. The Cowboys have a decent 6-6 record against the spread this year and we like them to cover here.
TIP: Dallas -4 - $1.91 at Ladbrokes
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins (Tuesday 12.30pm AEDT)
The Patriots will travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins in a AFC East clash for Monday night football this week. New England will be giving another double digit head start to their opponents here, making it the fourth game in a row for the 2018 Super Bowl favourites. They will, however, be without star tight end Rob Gronkowski, who copped a one game suspension for a late hit on a Buffalo defensive back in their 20 point win.
The Patriots have shown their ability to get it done without Gronk in the past, and his absence in this match shouldn’t worry Bill Belichick and Tom Brady too much. Miami are a bottom 10 defence against the run, so the RB committee at New England consisting of Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead and James white will likely have a full workload here.
The Patriots have covered the spread in their last six games in a row, winning five of them by double digits and have absolutely rolled through the AFC East division, winning all three games so far. We like them to continue their dominance over the division here and cover against the Dolphins, who have only covered in one of their last seven games.
TIP: New England -11 - $1.91 at CrownBet
