NFL Week 4 Betting Tips
Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals (Friday 30th September 10:25am)
For Thursday night football we have the Miami Dolphins playing the Cincinnati Bengals. Two teams that have started the season very sluggishly and have only recorded one win each. However, when we compare both the schedules and strength of teams they have played it’s not even close.
Back in week two Miami had a chance to beat a very undermanned Patriots team but fell short. This loss obviously took a toll on the team because the Cleveland Browns were able to take Miami into overtime. A game they were favoured to win by 10 + points. The Dolphins are struggling to run the ball and have big issues on the offensive line. It’s not looking good for them.
Meanwhile the Cincinnati Bengals have a good opportunity to record their first home win of the season. They were dealt three tough games to open the season and realistically one win is probably around par. The Bengals are led by quarterback Andy Dalton who is leading the AFC in passing yards (938 yards) but they also have a very sound running game. This is a very tough spot for the Dolphins.
Prediction: Miami 17 Cincinnati 30
Tip: Cincinnati Bengals at the line (-7.5) - $1.99 at Sportsbet
Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals (Monday 3rd October 7:25am)
After two wins in a row the L.A Rams will head into Glendale full of confidence. Unfortunately for them they will be meeting a very angry Arizona team with something to prove.
Who would have thought the Rams would have more wins than the Cardinals at this stage of the season? (certainly not me). The big question is, will Carson Palmer bounce back after playing a terrible game against Buffalo. I believe he will.
The Arizona defense has been very respectable in front of a home crowd. In week two they allowed just 7 points against Tampa Bay, a trend that should continue against the Rams.
This game feels like a classic case of overreaction. The stocks are very high on the Rams (two wins in a row). Meanwhile, Arizona’s stocks are plummeting all because Carson Palmer had a bad game (all of the sudden he can’t play at quarterback). I will agree Carson Palmer is 36 years old and will naturally decline but not to the extent everyone is carrying on about.
Prediction: Los Angeles 10 Arizona 27
Tip: Arizona Cardinals at the line (-8.0) - $1.99 at Sportsbet
Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers (Monday 3rd October 11:30am)
The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Kansas City Chiefs in a primetime Sunday night football matchup. The Steelers are coming off a terrible performance against Philadelphia. A game they only put up 3 points and allowed 34. On the other side we have the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have a chance to move to 3-1 and will be coming into this game with plenty of confidence.
Over the past two weeks the Steelers have had trouble stopping running backs. However, it’s the Chiefs that will have their hands full with the Steelers running backs this week. Star running back Le’Veon Bell is returning from his three game suspension and he will be eager to make amends. Not that his back up DeAngelo Williams has been playing bad. Williams is ranked 7th in the league with 258 yards of rushing.
The Chiefs may have looked good at home last week but they were average on the road against Houston and that road form will continue against Pittsburgh this week.
Prediction: Kansas 20 Pittsburgh 27
Tip: Pittsburgh Steelers at the line (-4.5) - $1.94 at Sportsbet
New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings (Tuesday 4th October 11:30am)
Its Monday night football in Minneapolis as the Vikings host the New York (football) Giants. The first thing we should address is just how good this Minnesota roster is. Especially the defense. The Vikings went into Carolina and beat up the Panthers. Forcing Cam Newton to throw three interceptions and sacking him a total of eight times.
Even though the Vikings only put up 211 yards of total Offense, they outscored their opponent in creative ways. Including a safety, punt return and multiple field goals. The Vikings defense is arguably better than the Denver Broncos.
The New York Giants do have two wins to their name but they have looked very unimpressive. Losing to Washington last week gave us a real look at where this team is at. Eli Manning will not be looking forward to facing this fierce defense, who are giving up just 13.3 points per game (ranked 3rd). Vikings won’t lose a game at home this season!
Prediction: New York 9 Minnesota 26
Tip: Total Points Under 43.5 - $1.89 at Sportsbet
