NFL Week 3 Betting Tips
Houston Texans at New England Patriots (Friday 23rd September 10:25am)
Two of the best teams in the AFC will battle it out on Thursday night as the New England Patriots host the Houston Texans. Both teams have started the season perfectly (2-0) which makes this matchup even more exciting. Houston had a very good win over Kansas City last week. A game that was decided by field goals and defensive pressure. Meanwhile the Patriots were able to hold on against a fast finishing Miami team.
The Patriots now have a new problem after backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo left the game with a shoulder injury. As we know Tom Brady still has two games left on his suspension. Therefore, its “next man up” and that guy is Jacoby Brissett. If you haven’t seen Brissett play go and check him out on YouTube. He seriously looks and plays like Cam Newton. The big question is will his game translate from College to Pro.
One thing that we know for sure is what we will get from these two teams defensively. The Texans have not allowed a touchdown in their last six quarters and they’re one of the best third down teams in the NFL. The defense is led by J.J Watt who plays like a man possessed. Patriots head coach Bill Belicheck is a magician but pulling a rabbit out of a hat might even be beyond him in this spot.
Prediction: Houston 23 New England 16

Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals (Monday 26th September 3:00am)
The Cincinnati Bengals will host the Denver Broncos in their first home game of the season. The Bengals had two tough road games to begin the season and a loss against Pittsburgh last week should motivate them even more. On the other hand, Denver will play its first away game. The Broncos started the season with two home wins against Carolina and Indianapolis.
In the game against the Indianapolis Colts the final score is a little deceiving. With 2 minutes’ left on the clock the Colts were trailing by just six points and had a chance to win. However, the Denver defense came up with a big play as Von Miller stripped the ball from Andrew Luck and returned it for a touchdown.
The Broncos sustained three big injuries against the Colts. DeMarcus Ware was among those injuries with a broken right forearm. This is a good opportunity for Cincinnati to knock the Broncos off.
Prediction: Denver 17 Cincinnati 20
Tip: Total Points Under 41.0 - $1.92 at Sportsbet
Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles (Monday 26th September 6:25am)
After watching the Philadelphia Eagles destroy the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football my opinion changed dramatically on the Bears but only slightly on the Eagles. Let’s not get to excited about beating the Cleveland Browns and the Chicago Bears. What the Eagles fans should be getting excited about is Carson Wentz.
The 6’5’’ quarterback from North Dakota State looks like the real deal. He is poised in the pocket and already showing maturity in his passing game. Wentz completed passes to seven different receivers against the Bears. He had 190 yards and one touchdown but most importantly no interceptions. In fact Wentz has not thrown an interception in the NFL….yet.
The Pittsburgh defense would love to spoil the Wentz party but if they’re to do so they will need to tighten things up a little. In the first two games the Steelers defense has allowed 347.5 yards passing compared to Philadelphia who has allowed just 194 yards.
They say the best defense is offense.
Well the Pittsburgh Steelers fit into this category perfectly. Ben Roethlisberger is having the year everyone thought he would and so is wide receiver Antonio Brown. The biggest surprise for me is the effectiveness of running back DeAngelo Williams who is averaging 4.09 yards per carry. The Steelers will continue to put high scores up on teams and this game should be no different.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 31 Philadelphia 19
Tip: Total Points Over 46.0 - $1.90 at Sportsbet
Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys (Monday 26th September 10:30am)
This line opened up at -4.0 (Dallas) and after the efforts of Chicago on MNF it has already moved to -7.0 (Dallas). The Chicago Bears season is over. That might sound a bit harsh but there is no other way I can put it. There seems to be in-house fighting and quarterback Jay Cutler has lost the respect of his team mates.
After a one-point loss against the New York Giants in week 1 the Dallas Cowboys bounced back with a great road victory over the Washington Redskins. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott continues to impress as he completed 22 passes for 292 yards against the Redskins. Another rookie that Dallas is relying on is the (4th overall draft pick) Ezekiel Elliot. The running back from Ohio State is averaging 3.27 yards per carry and already has two touchdowns to his name.
The Cowboys offensive line should really be able to take advantage of a Chicago team that is allowing over 114 yards of rushing.
Prediction: Chicago 17 Dallas 30
Tip: Total Points Over 44.5 - $1.96 at Sportsbet
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints (Tuesday 27th September 10:30am)
The Atlanta Falcons head over to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for Monday Night Football. The New Orleans Saints are still searching for their first win and are slightly favoured to do so. This is an all NFC South matchup that will have a lot of offense and not much defense.
Both teams have quarterbacks that love to air it out. Matt Ryan has already thrown for 730 yards on 73 attempts and Drew Brees isn’t far behind with 686 yards on 86 attempts. Atlanta has some very dynamic playmakers on offense but are known for not playing defense.
Under the dome the total has gone OVER in 5 of the last five games. That trend should continue especially with a team like Atlanta.
Prediction: Atlanta 30 New Orleans 31
Tip: Total Points Over 53.5 - $1.94 at Sportsbet
