NFL Week 2 Betting Tips
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (Friday 16th September at 10:25am)
Thursday night football is an AFC East battle between old rivals the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills. Both teams had ugly week one losses and one of these teams will be 0-2 entering week 3.
The Jets did a lot of things right against the Cincinnati Bengals. The defense played hard and got to the quarterback often. The Jets recorded seven sacks against Andy Dalton yet he was still able to throw for over 360 yards. Dalton can thank wide receiver A.J Green who had 12 receptions for 180 yards including a touchdown. The point being, if the Jets can apply the same pressure to Tyrod Taylor then the Bills will really struggle on Offense. Especially with the injury cloud over Sammy Watkins.
These two teams know each other very well and there is always motivation for a divisional rival. However, the revenge angle is high for the Jets as the Bills were responsible for bumping the Jets out of the playoffs late last season. The short turn around will favour the Jets and I believe they can score a bunch of points on Thursday night.
Prediction: New York 30 Buffalo 16

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (Monday 19th September at 3:00am)
This is another tough AFC East rivalry game as the New England Patriots host the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots shocked everyone in their week one victory over Arizona on the road. They won outright despite being 9.5 point underdogs and they did it without Tom Brady or Rob Gronkowski. The Patriots rookie quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo looked poised in the pocket with 24 completed passes for 264 yards. Although, he did face an Arizona defense that just didn’t show up to play. Let’s wait and see how Garoppolo plays against a defense that can apply some pressure or when it’s cold, windy and raining.
The Miami Dolphins have drawn the short straw regarding scheduling. They faced the Seattle Seahawks on the road and now they will have to face a confident Patriots team in Foxborough. Miami may have lost to Seattle in week 1 but they had every chance at stealing a victory. They blew a fourth quarter lead and eventually lost 10-12 in a low scoring affair.
This should be a very tough defensively minded game. Points will come at a premium. Unless Jimmy Garoppolo is already an A plus franchise quarterback and somehow New England Patriots have two at their disposal.
Prediction: Miami 19 New England 20

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams (Monday 19th September at 6:05am)
What a letdown for the Los Angeles football fans. They waited 21 years for a football team only to get humiliated by the 49ers 28-0. I’m not sure how many embarrassing losses like that head coach Jeff Fischer will survive. One area the Rams can definitely improve on is discipline. They gave away 10 penalties (for 102yards) against the 49ers. Fortunately, the only way is up for the Rams because they are sitting at rock bottom.
The Seahawks came away with a very unconvincing home win over Miami. The Russell Wilson led Offense looked unorganised but did just enough to pull out a win. On the other hand, the Seahawks defense looked sharp. Allowing just 64.0 yards of rushing and 214 yards overall. This Seattle defense will have to carry the team. Especially with the injury cloud over Russell Wilson.

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (Monday 19th September at 10:30am)
Two NFC North heavyweights will headline Sunday Night Football as the Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers. Both of these teams came away with week 1 victories on the road. Green Bay took care of Jacksonville and Minnesota managed a second half comeback against Tennessee.
This should be a much more ferocious game.
Minnesota were scoreless in the first half against Tennessee and had to rely on their defense in the second half to put points on the board. However, they are facing a very different Offense this week and will have their work cut out for them.
The Packers are fortunate they get to face the Vikings at home without their number one quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Stepping in for Bridgewater is Shaun Hill. Tennessee proved that if you can force Hill to beat you with his arm and accuracy. Then it turns the Vikings into a very one-dimensional team. I don’t expect Adrian Peterson to have just 31 yards on 19 carries like he did last week but if the Packers can stop the run they should win this game easy.
Prediction: Green Bay 30 Minnesota 13

Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears (Tuesday 20th September at 10:30am)
The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Cleveland Browns 29-10 and they’re acting like it’s a big deal. I will agree that first round draft pick Carson Wentz looked okay. Completing 22 passes for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The fact is he did that in front of a home crowd against possibly the worst team in the league. I’ll wait and see how he plays on the road against a better defense.
Chicago started strong against a very good Houston team. They went into half time with a 14-10 lead but faded in the second half. Jay Cutler need’s more support from both running backs and receivers. He has the talent but he seems like a confidence player. Cutler should be much more comfortable in front of a home crowd. It looks like a good match up for the Bears.
Prediction: Philadelphia 21 Chicago 27
