Women’s Australian Open Betting Tips
Outright Winner
The women’s side of the draw is always interesting because you can never be quite sure what you’re going to get from the stars. There’s been six different women win the Australian Open (AO) from the past seven years and the only women to double up during that span is the great Serena Williams. Now 38 years of age, Williams still has plenty left in the tank and comes into this tournament as the favourite despite being ranked #9 in the world. Interestingly, Williams has been drawn alongside last year’s winner and current #3 ranked Naomi Osaka in Quarter 2. For us, these two women have the best chance of winning the title and the fact they’re in the same quarter means you can just about guarantee one of them will make it to the final four. It’s always a tough one to pick, but we like the odds in the ‘Double Chance’ market at Sportsbet for either Williams or Osaka to win the AO.

Quarter 3 Winner
The first of two Quarter Winner markets we’re keen to make a play on is Quarter 3 where we fancy the slight favourite in Simona Halep. She’s a 2x Grand Slam champion and was a finalist at the AO in 2018 where she lost to Caroline Wozniacki in three close sets. There are plenty of other talented players in her quarter with the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Belinda Bencic and Danielle Collins, however, none of these three players have anywhere near the amount of runs on the board that Halep has. That’s why, in our opinion, getting anywhere around $4 for Halep to win her quarter is fantastic value and well worth some thought.
Quarter 4 Winner
The third and final market we’re going to attack is the Quarter 4 Winner at Sportsbet where we’re keen on a bit of an outsider. The favourite to advance from this quarter into the semi-finals is Karolina Pliskova. She’s the world #2 and plays her best tennis on the hard courts, however, she’s never been able to take the next step at the AO and has only made it to the semis on one occasion. On the next line of betting is Elina Svitolina who had a really nice 2019 but we can’t see making too much noise at the business end of this competition. This leads us to our left field pick who is young American star Amanda Anisimova. She’s just 18 years of age but has a big game and is already Grand Slam semi-finalist. She comes into the AO ranked #24 in the world and has been dealt a pretty favourable draw. In our opinion, she’s well worth a nibble at near double figure odds to win her quarter.
