NBL24 Round 11 Preview & Betting Tips
Perth Wildcats vs Tasmania JackJumpers
Friday 9:30pm AEDT, December 15th, RAC Arena
The Perth Wildcats copped a reality check in Round 10 when they were outworked and outplayed by the bottom-of-the-ladder Hawks. They went into that clash on a six-game win streak, but fell by 18 points in a poor all-around performance on the road.
The Hawks defended Bryce Cotton the best that any team has this season, sending a double-team on each catch, and forcing the ball out of his hands. You can expect similar tactics from more teams going forward.
The Wildcats now return home to RAC Arena where they’ve won four on the spin and have poured in at least 88 points on each occasion. Most recently, they took down the defending champion Kings by nine points in a high-scoring 114-105 scoreline.
Meanwhile, the Tasmania JackJumpers are in sneaky good form heading into Round 11. They suffered some growing pains early in their campaign but have now seemingly hit their straps. They’ve won three in a row and five of their last six and loom as genuine championship contenders.
Import point guard Jordan Crawford was terrific in the JackJumpers most recent win over the Breakers. The JackJumpers went into that game undermanned and a lot rested on the shoulders of Crawford, but he was able to deliver in a big way with 30 points including six triples.
Importantly, the JackJumpers will be with Milton Doyle in Round 11 after the star guard missed last weekend due to personal reasons. He adds much-needed firepower and is in MVP calibre form.
Match prediction: Both teams head into this matchup having won five of their last six games, which means we should be in for a cracker. These clubs met back in Round 1 at RAC Arena and played out a fantastic game, with the Wildcats coming away with a narrow 101-95 win.
However, the JackJumpers have improved significantly since then and now have a huge presence on the inside with Will Magnay playing at an extremely high level. And with Magnay and Crawford firing, and Doyle returning, I love the chances of the JackJumpers pulling off a mini upset.
