2024 AFL Round 13 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane
Friday 7:40pm AEST, June 7th, Marvel Stadium
Coming off a much-needed win against the Magpies, the Western Bulldogs will be eyeing off their third win from their past four when they return to Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
The Bulldogs were 18-point winners last Friday night thanks to a huge 31-1 fourth term, led by skipper Marcus Bontempelli who had one of the best individual quarters you’ll see. The Bont will get one of his great helpers back this week in the form of Tom Liberatore. Libba has missed the past month due to concussion issues but has been given the all clear to return. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Ed Richards who will miss again.
Elsewhere, Brisbane will feel as though this fixture is do-or-die for their season. They made the Grand Final last campaign but have been a shell of that side so far in 2024. The Lions had the bye last weekend and have had plenty of time to scout their upcoming opponent.
The Lions’ most recent loss came against the Hawks (75-100) just as they looked to be building some momentum. They accrued a 2-1-0 record in their three games prior and looked to be starting their ascend to the top eight.
The Lions are set to welcome back Brandon Starcevich and Eric Hipwood post-bye, while Harry Sharp and Brandon Ryan have both been omitted.
Match Prediction: The Bulldogs will start this game as the favourites due to home ground advantage and recent success, however, there isn’t a lot of merit to their last couple of performances, and the Lions get a great look at them after two weeks of preparation.
The Bulldogs are understrength in this clash and while the Lions haven’t been at all convincing in their matches in Melbourne in recent years, I expect them to at least cover the spread on this occasion.

Marcus Bontempelli 25+ Disposals – Coming off a sensational performance against the Magpies, you can expect the Bont to be in the thick of it again on Friday night. Happy to back him in as usual.
Darcy Wilmot 20+ Disposals – He’s been one of the shining lights for the Lions in a tough season to date, and he remains great value in the disposal markets.
Joe Daniher 2+ Goals – He hasn’t been hitting the scoreboard a ton lately but gets a nice matchup against the undersized Bulldogs defence. I expect a good game from Joe.
