Super Saturday in the AFL continues from 4.35pm as the Eagles take on the winless Kangaroos from Optus Stadium. Both clubs have found wins extremely hard to come by over the last couple of years, meaning one of these teams will get a rare taste of success! AFL Round 13 Preview & Betting Tips
West Coast vs North Melbourne
Optus Stadium, Saturday 8th June, 4.35pm (AEST)
It’s been a horror season to date for the Roos, who sit on the bottom of the AFL ladder still yet to record a win through their opening 11 games of the year. With an average losing margin of 52 points, there hasn’t really even been any positive signs to come out of the season outside of a few exciting patches from their youngsters.
They were comfortably beaten by the Power last week to the tune of 59 points and have made two changes in the aftermath as Jy Simpkin and Kallan Dawson come into the side for Zane Duursma and Charlie Lazzaro.
The Eagles were slated to have similar fortunes to their opponents but their fans have had slightly more to cheers about this season having won three games so far. Their form has dropped away over the last few weeks though, losing by 99 points to the Crows in Round 11 before going down to the Saints at home by 14 points last week.
They’ll be back at Optus Stadium and have made three changes for the saturday clash. Star forward and Coleman Medal contender Jake Waterman will be back in the line-up after missing the clash against the Saints, while Jack Hutchinson and Jai Culley also come into the line-up. Making way is Jack Williams, Zane Trew and of course Harley Reid, who was suspended for two games for a dangerous tackle on Saint Darcy Wilson.
Prediction
The Eagles start as strong 22.5 point favourites, which I think is about right given they have been pretty strong at home in front of their members this season. All three of their wins have come at Optus Stadium and the inclusion of Jake Waterman will be a massive boost for the Eagles.
With the bookends in Waterman and McGovern both playing well this season as well as the veteran midfield all finally up and running again, I think the Eagles should have a little too much firepower for North Melbourne at home. The Roos haven’t come within 20 points of an opponent this season and I don’t expect them to here.

Jake Waterman & Nick Larkey 2+ Goals Each - Backing the two big men to find the scoreboard a few times each here. Waterman has kicked multiple goals in six of his last seven games. Larkey has done so in four of his last seven and kicked eight in two games against the Eagles last season.
Jeremy McGovern 20+ Disposals - McGovern has been taking kickouts for the Eagles of late and has racked up 20+ disposals in his last three games in a row. Had 22 in his sole game against the Roos last year.
Harry Sheezel 25+ Disposals - This one has been a set and forget for me this year. Should get this easy once again as he roams around the backline (usually by himself). Has had 25+ in 9/11 games this season.
