With the controversial Australian reality series Married at First Sight (MAFS) hitting the half-way point of the “experiment”, there has been plenty of conjecture about the legitimacy of the 2019 cast. With so much drama, divided couples and multiple instances of contestants falling into temptation, Australia has been quick to assume that this simply cannot be real life.
Further investigations have now revealed that as many as nine of the cast members are wannabe actors with a history of small-time roles on the small screen. Billy had the lead role in a McDonald’s commercial, Susie was in a racy commercial for a fitness company, Sam and Mel have both had cameo appearances on Home and Away, Mike was in a low-budget action movie, while Dino has had a number of roles including a rather weird ad for men’s razors.
This evidence, combined with the fact that the editing of the show has left a lot to be desired in terms of continuity, has further pushed the theory that this “reality” show is in fact just another scripted soap opera.
Australian sports betting giant Sportsbet have also seen enough, and they have decided to pay out on the novelty market for at least one contestant in this MAFS season to be proven to be an actor.
The market was originally considered a long shot at $12 when the market first opened back in February, but the evidence is now pretty damning. MAFS producers have come out to categorically deny the claims, but that’s not stopping Sportsbet who are paying out those savvy reality TV viewers who took a piece of this novelty market!
