Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday, June 16th
Race 4
There looks three main hopes in the race and I'm keen to back two of them in particular. (2) Sunny Power has placed in his past three runs and he's drawn wide in every single one of them. He's recorded the fastest final sectional in both of his past two starts (including a 22.72 last start) but has just been too far back. Today he finally draws well in barrier 2 so if he can be within range on the turn, he should be a very good winning chance. (6) Sunshine Warrior recorded a 22.39 final sectional when finishing 4th last start. That was the fastest in the race and he was one of only four horses to break 23 seconds. That was his first try at 1400m, so the step up to the mile today looks ideal. He's drawn well in barrier 5 and looks ready to win at his fourth career start. (10) Little General gets the big jockey change with Purton taking over. He hasn't had much luck in recent starts but he draws well and gets Purton so he must be rated highly. I'll be taking on Little General here and backing Sunny Power and Sunshine Warrior.
Also backing: (2) Sunny Power $5.50
(6) Sunshine Warrior
$3.70
Race 6
Looks a nice race for (2) Young Legend, who comes off a good win at this track and distance last start, which followed another couple of good efforts prior. He's been given a 2kg rise in the weights today, which is about as much as I'd want, but he's been kept fresh and draws the same barrier as he did last start. More importantly, Purton sticks with him. He should get a good run up on the speed (likely to track the leader) and he'll be fighting out the finish. Hopefully the penalty isn't enough to stop him making it back-to-back wins.
Race 9
This looks one of Purton's best chances on the day with (8) Invincible Missile. The three-year-old has been close up in most of his starts and comes off a 2nd placing over 1400m here last start. He drops back to 1200m today, which I actually think is a positive. I think the 1400m run will have him spot on fitness-wise for a strong 1200m today and I also think he's been struggling to see out the 1400m in his past three or four starts. Purton sticks with him today and he's drawn well in barrier 6 so he'll be right in the finish again.

Race 10 (best bet)
John Moore and Zac Purton have a 42% winning strike rate together this season and a 58% ROI to go with it. They team up with (8) Champion Supreme here and I think he's the best bet of the day. Three starts ago he bolted in in Class 4 over this track and distance. He then stepped up to Class 3 and won again, despite dropping back to the mile. He could only manage 3rd last start but it was a huge run after being caught wide without cover from the wide draw. Purton rode the winner of that race, which was (4) Splendour And Gold, and he jumps off that horse to ride Champion Supreme today, replacing Regan Bayliss. That's a huge jockey change and the horse should have no issues in the run today as he's drawn well in barrier 6. Looks very hard to beat. (10) Super Elegance could be worth having a saver on. He was beaten 2.3L in that same race behind Splendour And Gold last start but he didn't have the clearest passage in the straight. He finished off strongly when he got clear so he's got some chance today.
