Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday November 23rd
Race 3
(3) So You See is first up for Mike Moroney and Blake Shinn and she has won first up before (Pakenham/February). She has had two recent Flemington jumpouts and did well against some handy horses so she should be ready to go here. It's been more than six months since her last race and on that occasion, it was a 7th in a Group 1 race at Morphettville. That day she had to go right back but did pick up a few down the home straight. Before that she should have won at Sale when beaten a nose on a Good surface. She is untried on the Soft but her form around Daisies, Barb Raider and The Amazonian was a lot harder than her rivals in this race. Hardest to beat will be Peter Moody’s runner in Liberated Girl.
(3) So You See
$2.40 (3 Units)
Race 6
(9) Vermentino was backed to win ($1.45) and won well at Hamilton on debut and looks pretty smart for the Maher & Eustace team. Barrier one should enable jockey Ben Melham to lead like his mount did at Hamilton and control the race over the 1200m distance. That Hamilton win was almost a year ago and the stable has opted to steer clear of the Spring Carnival races and try for an easier option here. Place of Gold will be a danger and will be the one trying to catch our selection late and is one who is down in class.
(9) Vermentino
$2.80 (3 Units)
Race 7
(5) Thought Provoking for Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr has been racing in stronger races than this and will appreciate the drop in class. On November 10 she led but went a bit keenly to finish 10th behind the quality horse in Atishu and before that ran a good second on rain affected ground behind Wisaka, who is the likely favourite in this race. She should like the Going as she is one from one on the Soft and she has won two races for her jockey Jordan Childs. She hasn't won yet this prep, but she has won three races in her 10 career starts. Wisaka has to carry 62 kilos and might be slightly under the odds. Thought Provoking carrying 58.5kg and at 9-1 appeals more.
(5) Thought Provoking
$9.00 (1 Unit)
Race 8
(3) Lina’s Legend has raced well on Soft ground before and has raced okay her last two starts when unplaced at Flemington. He is down in class here after racing in Listed races and he will be one running on late at nice odds. Her last 400m at Flemington last start was very good last time when starting at very big odds and although her odds won't be double figures here, they will be at each-way odds. He is fit and despite being unplaced at his last two, does have a very consistent record. Saint of Katowice will be one of the favourites but didn't do much in recent jumpouts.
(3) Lina’s Legend
$6.50 (2 Units)
