Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday May 15th

May 14th 2024, 2:24pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Sandown Racing Tips

Ladbrokes Park Hillside hosts midweek racing in Victoria this week with a few horses catching the eye early. The first race is scheduled for 12:25pm (AEST), and the weather is still dry which means gallopers will be racing on another Good surface or a Soft 5. Eight races are on the card with the first race over 1000m with (2) Brighella catching the eye.

Brendan Bunworth provides his best bets for Sandown below and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips from around the country this Wednesday!

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 15th 2024

Race 1: Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap - 12:25pm (AEST)

(2) Brighella was just fair at Caulfield last week (5th) but will improve again for the strong combination of Cummings and Kah. He settled on speed at Caulfield but drifted back but will be stronger here and is down in class. That was on a Good track and his win was on a Soft5 so a Soft track might be preferable for this race. The Godolphin owned Colt is likely fully fit now and being a two-year-old, may got out for a spell after this one.

(3) Charcoals is on debut for Anthony & Sam Freedman and has to be respected. Did win a jumpout at the latest outing.

(4) Exuma is on debut for the same stable and has Williams on which will assist. He also won a trial last time and it will be interesting to see which of the Freedman horses gets backed in.

(2) Brighella E/W

$8.00/$2.50 (1 Unit)

Race 3: Tobin Brothers Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)

*SCRATCHED* (1) Zamborghini is second up and has won twice when second up previously. Kah stays on and he did run well for her last time when he was well back at the 400m. A Good surface will be better for this one. He will carry he same weight here but has more fitness on his side this time. He has won 4 from 13 and the Laurie camp believe he goes well over this distance.

(4) Jaykayann has drawn wide and does his best racing on wet tracks which is a worry but on form has to be included in the placings. He is first up and he has been trialing well against some good quality horses including Jimmy The Bear.

(3) Loco hasn’t raced in a year and comes into this race after racing against some good types so he would find this class okay. He likes this distance and he gets around Hillside quite well.

(1) Zamborghini

Race 6: Sportsbet Nobody Does It Easier Handicap - 3:20pm (AEST)

(5) William Thomas was scratched on Saturday in preference for this. The track conditions suit and this race is actually easier than the one he was in on the weekend. He gets back in the run and needs luck so will want the pace on. He hasn’t won in more than 3 years but the John Price stable has put Blake Shinn on which suggests he is going well at home. He likes this distance and he has won here before. The long straight may assist because he does take forever to wind up. Last chance.

(1) Scissor Step won a Bendigo trial on April 23 and has been kept fresh for this. He has won here before and that was on March 6 on a Good track. Similar conditions expected again.

(2) Inundation is an interesting one and owes a lot of punters. Has got a lot of talent but has had a lot of issues. He has won 4 times over this distance and is one of the more interesting runners of the afternoon. Is first up and hasn’t won in almost a year and a half.

(5) Williams Thomas E/W

$9.00/$2.70 (0.5 Units)
