Ladbrokes Park (Hillside) returns to a day timeslot with midweek racing with eight highly competitive races scheduled on Wednesday.
The first gets us underway at 12:25pm with runners likely running on a Slow 7 surface. The two year old’s will start us off with only 1 of the 8 runners having had a start, so I have let that one go through to the keeper and have concentrated on the other 7 races, with 4 key bets for punters to consider.
Check out my best bets for Sandown below and good luck if following!
Sandown Racing Tips - Wednesday, May 10th 2023
Race 3: Thoroughbred Club Australia Handicap - 1.35pm (AEST)
(6) Lady Court for Peter Moody and Luke Nolen looks hard to beat here and should be cherry ripe after having 3 starts from a spell. She should have won on April 5 at Ballarat when beaten a neck and then was just okay at Pakenham last time when 7th. She looks like one of the fitter ones in the race and the mare, despite having a bad barrier in 12, will likely come across from out there and settle handy.
(8) La Gioia won well at Sale after settling on speed and from barrier 10 will look to come over again. Zac Spain stays on after that win which is a plus.
(10) Queen Adele has been consistent without winning and will likely get back in this field again. She has been in the money both times on the Soft.
(5) Born Hustler will find this easier after being defeated by Jennilala last time. She is versatile and did win well at Pakenham on March 16.
(6) Lady Court - WIN
$5 (2 Units)
Race 4: Ive Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)
(1) Clock Strikes for Robbie Griffiths and Matt de Kock has had a little freshen up in readiness for this after his disappointing 4th at Lakeside last start. Before that he could not have been more impressive winning 2 in a row including an all the way win at Pakenham. Carleen Hefel was on for both wins but he has Craig Newitt now who did ride him last start so knows what he is capable of.
(2) Epic Centre won for Jarrod Fry last start and Fry stays on again. That win was impressive (4.25L) and was on a similar surface as to what he gets again here.
(3) River Ribble likes the Soft tracks and did run on very well into 2nd at Morphettville last start with John Allen on board. He has been in the money 6 of 8 and should be in the money again in this one.
(4) The Guava with Laura Lafferty on again has drawn inside and will try to save ground in this one. He should find this race easier after running into Katsu last time (5th).
(4) Clock Strikes - WIN
$8 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Senet Gambling Law Experts Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(2) Ranveer for Matt Laurie and Ben Melham should race well here after a solid 2nd at Mornington when beaten half a length and despite having not won a race in 18 months, he is fit enough after many jumpouts in the last three months. He does usually get back in his races so he might try for one run at them down the straight and this track should suit him better with a longer straight.
(3) Along The River is first up and does normally go well fresh for Bill Cerchi. He was in a strong jumpout last week behind River Ribble so if that horse goes well, so should Along The River.
(7) Tax Free Prophet was 2L behind Along The River last time and he does go well at this distance.
(8) Who Shot Suzy has a wide barrier in 12 but she did run a good 2nd behind Katsu 2 starts back and this race is easier.
Race 7: The Importer Handicap - 3:55pm (AEST)
(9) Morvader has drawn poorly in barrier 13 but she does have plenty of ability. She was beaten a nose at Ararat on April 20 and she has placed when being 2nd up twice previously. Thomas Stockdale replaces Linda Meech as jockey and he will likely try to push forward if able. She has never raced on the Soft but she has never missed a placing in 4 attempts on the Heavy so she should be right.
(10) Queen Maeve will likely need the pace to win and she might get that here. She is fit but is untried on the ground.
(8) Moor Mumm was very good when winning at Bendigo last start and that was on Soft ground too. John Allen stays on and she is another one who will roll forward.
(7) Miss Milhous is going for two in a row for Declan Bates. This is a little harder but it does look as though she likes wet ground.
(9) Morvader - WIN
$6 (2 Units)
